With the release of Villains, my wife and I had some discussion about a possible theme to show up in the final expansion: villains that become heroes. Omnitron has done this already, as has (sort of) the Dreamer. But we’re now inspired by the new art prints and character bios we now have access to. Especially:
La Capitan. We know that in her later years, she wishes to undo the actions of her youth, helps Chrono-Ranger and sets him to this task. She may even do the final apprehension of her younger self herself, on La Capitan's Villains character card's incapacitated side.
Pinion. We have known/strongly suspected that the Matriarch turns good and becomes a playable hero in the card game. She maybe appears on one of La Capitan's cards ("Cuando? Ahora!).
On top of these, we also have strong possibilities for villains who could be influenced to join the heroes:
Infinitor's new promo suggests that he sometimes takes an active role in fighting his madness, WITH his brother.
The Operative may harbor lingering loyalty to Mr. Fixer, her old master.
Fright Train. We know he takes the mantle of Bunker at some point.
Deadline. He's been working to subvert the cosmic entity.
If the “big bad” is a cosmic entity that threatens the entire multiverse, one might imagine that heroes and villains would band together. That might be an appropriate time to introduce some new loyalties.

Fright Train only becomes Bunker in the Iron Legacy timeline. It is not for certain he turns a hero in the main timeline. I do like the idea and I d suspect we possibly get two villains turned hero.

The Operative's bio in Sentinel Tactics puts her pretty clearly still on the "villain" side, as does the URL:
However, the hero/villain divide seems to be a little less clear in the Sentinel Tactics timeline.

My guess: A scenario book. Kind of a campaign mode with some "Legacy" (as in Pandemic Legacy or Risk Legacy) cards added to the game that adds persistent effect to the campaign. (Example of what I'm thinking about: If a hero gets incapacitated during a fight, for his next combat, he has one fewer card in his starting hand.)
You could still play this expansion with just the base game, but with more expansions, you'd be able to access different part of the overall campaign.
Also a couple Villains turned hero for good measure (Pinion?) and Terminarch with its own weird gameplay (Perhaps a multi stage boss fight with mutliple decks?).
Maybe...?

With the Release of Chokepoint and the Celestial Tribunal, that now gives us 4 mini-expansion villains and 4 mini-expansion environments, but only 3 mini-expansion heroes. My guess is that the final expansion pre-order will give us one more mini-expansion hero to balance that out (and I'm hoping it'll be Pinion, rather than an all-new character).

Pinion would be a wonderful addition. Then you could set up a story where her old self slips through time from the past, and she must face her former self. Wonder what her nemesis icon would be, though.

Perhaps it will a set that gives you all the cards you need to turn any one of the existing villains into a hero, so they can join in the fight against The Big Bad.

I don't expect to see new hero characters in the final expansion or as promo. Mostly because at the moment, all the existing heroes have a nemesis in the original Vengeance expansion. Adding an extra hero would unbalance this equilibrium.
I do however like the idea of heroes working with the villains (probably only the villains of Vengeance and Villains) to defeat the ultimate boss. How this could be made possible; don't know..

It is kind of telling that no mini-nemesis has an unasigned symbol. Obviously they could surprise us with a hero and do a mini-expansion of a V-format deck for them.
I agree that it is most likely that heroes are done.

That speculation has more or less been in place since Vengeance released. We knew Captain Cosmic, Sky-Scraper, and Guise because they had mini-nemeses on cards in the V5, but there was nobody else not already accounted for.

I wouldn't discount a new hero having the same nemesis icon as another hero. It would make sense too for a villain who has turned into a hero as the original hero would still be wary of them.

Yeah, we already know that villains can be each others’ nemeses, so why not the heroes? All that’s likely established is that the icon set is closed.

(Villains Spoilers; some people have it, so it's probably cool, but I don't feel like saying it without warning) Gotta go Doc Scratch on this and hilight that white text if you want to read it!)
Because of Heartbreaker, in Miss Information's Deck, I don't think Pinion will be in Sentinels Proper. In playtesting, his nemesis symbols were just replaced with the words [Nemesis: Dark Watch], implying that he was the nemesis of the ENTIRE Dark Watch, but the final version has his nemeses as just the normal 4 of Setback, Fixer, ExPat, and NightMist. Of course, this COULD just mean that she isn't part of the Dark Watch during Sentinels, of course, but I would find that a little disappointing myself.

also, to add to team no more heroes, they said that every hero will have a promo by the end of things. So if they add a new hero, it would also have the promo version in the same expansion, which seams odd considering that promo's almost always represent changes and progression for the character

I don't think that the lack of an unassigned symbol means it can't happen, esp. as Pinion becoming a hero would take place after most of the the cards we've seen so far. Maybe Pinion's nemesis is a character to be introduced in the final expansion.
OR I could easily see GTG trhowing us a curveball with (the hypothetical) Pinion nemesis icon and having her be a hero without a nemesis or doing something with a different mechanic like Greazer where it's set to be a villain in play

The renewed focus is really good news. I think that they had a lot going on in 2015 which has made for a long cycle. I am hoping that in 2016 that the team will be able to shorten the production cycle and really crack things out! I will say that for me Villains was worth the wait, so if a little extra time is what it takes, then that is what it takes.

I doubt you're right, but I hope I'm wrong. That would be immense, literally a combination of my two favourite gaming things. Imagine you're halfway through a fight, and suddenly you get a new power to grant to someone, that they get to keep permanently and put out at setup by default? Imagine… Oh god… Imagine you screw up, and for whatever reason have to rip up one of your cards, never to be used again? "Right, choose a character in this battle, and a character in the box, and apply these stickers. They are now Buddies and if they're both being played, once per round, an attack on one can be redirected to the other."
Hell, you know what? I'll ante up. If GTG finishes up with Sentinels (card game, not Tactics) and hasn't made some sort of Sentinels Legacy (hah, just realised how relevant that name would be), I'll start up an unofficial fan project to make a legacy-style expansion, print-and-play. You can quote me on that.

It would be terrific to make a fan legacy-style game if GtG doesn’t do it themselves. We basically just have to write the legacy deck - okay, because of Legacy, I’m gonna call it the scenario deck on this forum - and players can write on or destroy those without touching their beloved official cards. For instance:
Hey, Buddy!
Write the names of two hero character cards in play below:
These heroes are now Buddies. Whenever both are in play, if one of these heroes would take damage, you may redirect it to the other Buddy.
What’s Goin’ on…Buddy?
Tear up the “Hey, Buddy!” card.
Players would just have to put all active scenario cards in play at the start of game.

Maybe the next expansion will provide lots of alternate character cards for the heroes : different versions from different universes. In other words, "promos", but they will be part of the expansion. A good way to make heroic villains : give Fanatic's deck to alternate reality Apostate. Maybe even alternate villains, Scion/Cosmic version ? Anyway I want Metal Adept and friends :D
It would be great if the expansion was a "mini campaign" : the final boss can only be fought after succeeding in finding a number of "clues", items or allies through other fights/quests.

Reading through everything from the last few days I'm thinking that the obvious answer is that we are going to get two reformed villain decks, The Harpy and The Ennead.
The non vengence style expansions normally have two heroes, so I can make that fit.
Or and this is my looney theory, we're getting a bunch of team hero decks e.g. (Freedom Five + Unity, Dark Watch + The Scholar + The Harpy, Ra + The Ennead, Prime Wardens) so that all the heroes fight the Big Bad at the same time.
Then my head exploded...

While this seems like a great idea… this also feels like the direction of Sentinels; Tactics. I think a scenario book also stops the creativity point of the game. Takes the imagination away from the players and gives it to a book, instead.
The great thing about Sentinels is that the game is very open ended. It allows you to play as whomever you want and make the story yourself. Linking everything to a canon (even though there is a canon if you read carefully) makes the game turn into an RPG instead of a game.
Since we already have an actual RPG in the works, I don't think making those games collide is the best plan of action.

I thought Blade would be fighting Legacy forever too. I mean, someone prepared to pull the moon into the Earth to hurt/spite/kill their enemy is so far on the other side of rational that I can't imagine how they think. But maybe the total destruction represented by the cosmic entity is a step too far.
In terms of heroes and villains joining up, I wonder if there's any way to handle that without new decks? When Vengeance came along with the villain team format, we got new decks, after all, not just a way to configure existing villain decks (which, honestly, would've been a bit of a pain every time one wanted to switch back and forth). But maybe the Vengeance format is more congenial to villain decks taking on roles in hero teams, because they're more balanced towards the strength of one villain per hero. Who knows?

I always pictured Baron Blade as a villain that would do anything to achieve his goals. While he is crazy, he's also very cunning. If this helps him survive, then he has a reason to fight with heroes. I would say this is a good reason.

I think Baron Blade is very much the type of crazy that says, "You don't get to defeat Legacy, I get to defeat Legacy," or "You won't destroy this planet, that's my job!"
I really can't wait to see hero Blade, should keep the same nemesis icon just so he can hit Legacy really hard (with Galvanize, Inspiring Presence and Nemesis bonus!)

I wonder if the villains that team up with heroes won’t actually be playable, but their decks would run themselves Vengeance-style. The setup card would just say something like, “Baron Blade is a hero target. Swap all occurrences of the terms ‘hero’ and ‘villain’ on all cards in his deck.”

I love this! No one but the Baron being allowed to defeat Legacy, and all the rest - it's completely spot-on.
While it's more obvious that Legacy would be willing to work with Blade for the sake of a greater good, I have to wonder what it would feel like for Legacy to be cooperating with someone who has successfully murdered him in some timelines and his daughter in others. He has to know that any moment could seem like the right one for Blade to stab them in the back, if it looks like the Baron could do that and still have Oblivaeon be defeated. I mean, in the Iron Legacy timeline, I feel sure that part of Iron Legacy's rage is self-hatred at not killing Blade before Blade could kill Felicia, given that he had known for years thatthe Baron wanted to end the Parsons lineage, but never took justice into his own hands because (presumably) it was important to leave things to the courts. Once Iron Legacy appears in the main timeline, even after he's dealt with, there must be lingering questions. It clearly shows that the heroes need to be very careful in dealing with Blade, who isn't going to be any more compassionate or less competent in dealing with Felicia than with her father.

The Ennead was mentioned during the ARG as fighting on the side of the heroes (as was Anubis) -- and those could make for an interesting "hero". (Not sure how it would work mechanically, though...)

I wonder if we'll see a reverse of this as well in the final expansions. Any heros turned villain.
I'm wondering if parse, having had contact with the big bad and looking at her incap side, isn't pulled under Oblivaeon's control as a scion. Against her will of course. But somehow overcome, like angel becoming archangel in the x-men comics.
Maybe multiple scions, each touched by the big bad someway somehow and based on who they were before they each have a different way they must be fought?
My best guess for parse at this point.

I also think that Fright Train may become a hero.
I noticed differences in the wording of the incapacitate effects of the Vengeful Five. Baron Blade's and Fright Train's incap effects refer to the start of their respective "villain turn". The other villain incap effects of the V5 don't have this wording, they just refer to the start of their respective "turn". But the clarification on the incap sides of Baron Blade and Fight Train is only necessary if there will be also hero decks of both of them, isn't it?!

I know a couple of people have said that about Fright Train, but my copy of his villain card specifically says "Fright Train's turn", missing the villain keyword. Baron Blade's does say "villain turn", though.

I'm not so sure that Baron Blade's card saying "villain turn" actually hints to anything. If Baron Blade will be his very own Hero deck, then he will be going by another name, for the pure purpose of what will happen if you play Baron Blade versus Baron Blade. Anything using "Baron Blade" would refer to both of them. Backlash Field is in play? Hitting either of the Baron Blades would trigger it.

Scion maybe but not OblivAeon himself. Deadline was with the Enclave of Endlings for 700 years after his world was destroyed by OblivAeon before he noticed the events of Earth that would cause their extinction. His background also specifically mentions how he wept as Voss destroyed a civilization but actions of Voss weren't enough to get him to try to stop anything. So I could see Voss as a Scion but not OblivAeon.

3 Heroes (Parse, Omnitron-X, and Skyscraper) currently do not have Promos.
Oblivaeon will contain 5 new Hero decks.

I do not think Baron Blade has turned good. He may have a Hero deck, but that seems like it would be mostly to further his own goal. Take The Dreamer, she isn't bad, but she has a villain deck because at that point in time she is opposing the heroes.

Ha. OK... if it's in fact Baron Blade opportunistically aligning himself with the heroes just for this occasion because doing so furthers his own goals, and not because he has found the error of his ways in any manner, shape or form, he already would technically have a promo variant card and therefore there would be no need to create a new one to satisfy the claim that all heroes will have variants by the end of the story arc. So he wouldn't necessarily be counted when speculating how many promos are coming.

Maybe the hero deck is the alternate reality Blade and not the Ivan we all have come to know in the main timeline? Someone pointed out how his costume is fairly similar to Unity's with the goggles and everything (though our Blade in Tactics also has those I guess). Anything is possible at this point.

While I have no expectation that Dawn will be a hero, I just want to point out that Iron Legacy has a much higher power level than Legacy, despite basically being the same character.
That is to say, decks are as strong as they need to be, hero or villain.

I ntoice din the KS video that "old friends come to their aid" and shows a picture of Infinitor.
Could Infinitor be a hero too? Yes, he has a villain promo where he acts as a hero, and needs to overcome his insanity, but i doubt that this is a coincidence.

Hah, nobody has speculated about that. Nigel Lowsley (the brother of Hugh Lowsley, aka Captain Cosmic) might well be a hero. He wouldn't be called Infinitor–I think Christopher clarified in one of the Q&As that Infinitor is definitely evil, but Nigel is not.

I said this in the kickstarter chat, but it's worth bringing up here: Luminary is from the base set. Harpy is from rook city. Akash'Thriya is from infernal relics.
The two "normal" expansions that don't have good turned villains are Shattered Timelines and Wrath of the Cosmos. So I agree with La Capitan and Deadline being the two new heros

Stuntman would qualify for Mini-expansions as well since that is what Ambuscade is, and if Benchmark is supposed to be Revenant then he covers Vengence. La Capitan would then cover both Shattered Timelines and Villians. Deadline covers Wrath. That's all the expansions (refering to mini-expansions as a group of course.)

Bracelets? But no version of La Capitan we’ve seen so far wears bracelets. Normal has that fancy jacket, villains has gloves and future version has a sci fi bracer thing on.
The hair style looks to be a closer fit for Miss Information’s too, and that hint of glow effect makes me think it could be her using her reality warping powers.
Before she became a villain she was very closely associated with the heroes, so working alongside them against such a huge threat could make sense.
I’m also intrigued about when the Sentinels are going to show up again, and what state they’re going to be in. It doesn’t sound too good for them currently.

Im starting to second guess myself.
VotM art shows Miss Info with similar curly hair to the shadow on the stretch goal page. But Capitain also has kinda curly hair at the ends.
The Shadow is holding something. It could very well be that stone-ish mask Miss Info was wearing. It has a similar shape

One thing to consider, the silhouette is most likely a variant of the standard character. The standard could be an older version of La Capitan, while the variant is a young one.
Also, I am hoping that each of the hero decks in OblivAeon is a villain from the core game and each standard expansion. That would leave us with either La Capitan or Kismet, both of which I would be happy to have as playable character.

Technically, it could also be The Dreamer-- or, at least a much older version of her, given that shadow art.
But yeah, I'm in the camp of each expansion being represented by a hero, since Stuntman/Ambuscade would cover Villains and Benchmark from Vengeance (given the Revenant connection). So, I wouldn't be surprised to see La Capitan/Kismet/Dreamer and Deadline tomorrow.

Visionary is from a different timeline than the Dreamer. The Visionary was a subject in Project Cocoon while the Dreamer was not. The Dreamer may grow up to be a very different person than the Visionary, with different personality, goals, abilities, etc. That's what I was thinking would be interesting. It doesn't appear that she'll become a hero in OblivAeon, but who knows.

I just thought, another reason why Miss Information might join the fight - her powers and existence as a villain is entirely based around the multiverse, it’s possible she might be reliant on it even and without it she could be powerless… No other realities to draw from.

I'm surprised how tightly Miss Information has been wound into the SotM storyline given that she was originally the winning entry in a fan-made villain contest, meaning that Chistopher didn't think her up. But she shows up in Tactics and also maybe as a hero in Oblivaeon. Not bad for someone who wasn't supposed to be part of the story in the first place.

I assume Parse would always have been around otherwise, like Setback was, but I struggle to see who her nemesis would have been if Miss Information hadn’t been chosen.
With Setback, if Kismet hadn’t been around then Revenant is more than prominent enough in the setting to have likely been his main nemesis.
I can’t see anyone like that for Parse, Highbrow doesn’t exactly stand out from all the other masses of minor nemeses.
Could Parse have been set to be the create a hero nemesis whoever it was going to be?But Kismet seemed so appropriate for Setback that Revenant got bumped out in favour of her, leaving a space for Miss Info?
Either way, she certainly has done well for herself.

I'm silently hoping there's a hero version of Kismet, but her deck-stacking stuff isn't as uncommon to heroes as it is to villains, and she might end up too much like Visionary. Maybe if they focused on the way her deck-stacking is directly tied to how she deals the majority of her damage, or did something interesting with Jinx cards...
