Rampant speculation on what they are.

Absolute Zero is fairly easy:

Until end of next turn all damage done by Absolute Zero is increased by 2

Bunker takes a bit of guess work. My take:

Destroy 1 of your ongoing or equipment cards.  If you do, draw or play 1 card, and use a power in any order.

It could be draw AND play 1 card, and use a power but that seems a bit too strong.

Unity is kind of weird, as best I can guess:

Play (destroy maybe?) a mechanical golem, then  (search) (  ) (   ) your deck,  move a  mechanical golem from your trash into your hand. You may draw a card.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of room in the text box to contain all the words it needs to search up a golem and put it anywhere in that one line of text.   The abilities together seem a bit disjointed.   Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure the text on Termination Bunker is this:

Destroy 1 of your Ongoing or Equipment cards.  If you do, draw 1 card, play 1 card, and use a power in any order.

Also what is the backstory on these promos. I think it has to do with Chokepoint stealing their stuff but how did Bunker end up with such a cool suit, and why isn't it getting stolen too?

Its cool that two heroes that have faces hidden behind technology get promos where you can see them on a hero card.

Also Bunker is the first hero with three promos.

Absolute Zero's may be something like this:

Until the end of your next turn,

increase all damage dealt by

and to Absolute Zero by 2.

For unity I'm wondering if it might be;

(destroy) a mechanical golem, then  (shuffle)  your deck,  move a  mechanical golem from your trash into your hand. You may draw a card.

Probably Unity's power reads 'play' a golem, because she needs a legal way to put her golems on the table.

She can get Golems out through Modular Workbench or Construction Pylon.   My guess is that she destroys a Golem in play and gets to put one out from her trash or deck.

It also makes more sense, destroying a golem to prevent it from being used by Chokepoint against the heroes.

I agree with Zero and Bunker

?NT SHIVERS
UNTIL THE END OF YOUR NEXT TURN,
INCREASE ALL DAMAGE DEALT BY
AND TO ABSOLUTE ZERO BY 2

MODULIZE
DESTROY 1 OF YOUR ONGOING OR
EQUIPMENT CARDS. IF YOU DO, DRAW
1 CARD, PLAY 1 CARD AND USE A
POWER IN ANY ORDER

I'm guessing that Unity would have a draw power, compared to his previous Character cards.
RECONFIGURE
DISCARD A MECHANICAL GOLEM, THEN
SHUFFLE INTO YOUR DECK. MOVE A
MECHANICAL GOLEM FROM YOUR TRASH
TO HAND. YOU MAY DRAW A CARD.

I'm also guessing that Santa Guise's theme song is Santa Maradona and he screams GOAL every time he gives you a present.
Termination Zero is absolutely metal, like In The End from Linking Park
Termination Bunker is techno, something from Daft Punk?
Unity would still be some bubble gum pop, but not as childish/innocent. Maybe Bad Blood from Taylor Swift? Could be since Chokepoint and her share "mess with techonology" powers.

Modulize, if it does Destroy a card in play to let you play draw and use a power in any order, isn't that powerful.

  1.  "If you do" means you have to destroy a card or the power does nothing.  No freebies.

  2.  The cost of the power's effect is a card in play and a power.

  3.  The power's effect lets you play a card, replacing the one you destroyed at the cost of a card in hand.  It also lets you draw a card, replacing the card in hand loss.  It then gives you a power to replace the one you spent on Modulize.

So at the end of using the power you have the same number of cards in play, in hand, and can use a power you would have used instead.

So it essentially lets you swap out a card for a different one for free.  There aren't a lot of times you want to sacrifice one of Bunker's cards.  Gatling Gun is an easy target if you are running low on cards to feed it, or Ammo Drop when you have a full hand, but often the cards you have in play are there because you want them there.

I see it being great with Recharge or Upgrade mode as you can still take your normal turn and put those into play as the last effect.  For recharge mode you get the extra card and DR at least for turn without losing your turn.  For upgrade mode you are setup to be able to play two cards next turn without having to skip a power phase on your prior turn.

If you have a duplicate card in your hand, it is a free cycling of cards. I.e., you have a flak cannon in play and in your hand. Normally, you would just shoot it. Now, use the new power, you can destroy it, draw a card, play the second cannon, then fire it. It's a free ditch of a card to draw a card, at worst.

Naughty boy, back to your doghouse! Describing Linken Park as a metal band, tschh. Given the length of time he was frozen for he probably would have been a teen in the eighties so I reckon he'll be the right age for Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden; I can see him trying in vain to persuade Tachyon to install a cassette deck in one of his suits. Definitely not a fan of processed music designed to hit a record label's target demographic

I reckon Unity would be more into emo/goth-type stuff than pop; and most likely cool and edgy enough in her tastes to be dissatisfied with modern bands so busting out the likes of Nirvana and Joy Division.

Running with the theme, Legacy is totally J-Pop all the way. The slippery slope started with Ace of Base, then Aqua was the watershed moment that caused Beacon no end of eye-rolling embarrassment. Ra is a fan of Wagnerian opera, while Omnitronks, after carefully studying all forms of Human music in an attempt to find a way to fit in, has settled on the Foggy Mountain Boys. Baron Blade still listens to the mix-tape he made for his secret High School crush which she cruelly spurned by tossing into the trash in front of everyone - I can tell that he's been hurt inside. Dawn loves a bit of off-the-wall avant garde Industrial, I reckon Laibach would be obscure yet accessible enough for her what with all the starched uniforms and militaristic marching. The earlier versions of Omnitron love nothing more than relaxing with Lou Reeds Metal Machine Music.

Picking favourite bands for the multiverse is fun :slightly_smiling_face:

With the nemesis bonus, won't Absolute zero be getting a triple buff by using his power? with +3 dealt by and to absolute zero he'll do +6 cold damage to himself with every 1. a Modular realignment without one of his modules already in play could kill him quick, or destroy the villain too easily. Because of that, I'm thinking his new base power isn't a double buff, either just the damage he deals, or the damage he takes.

All of them, ever. We have one expansion after Villains before SotM ends, so this is it, a pack of everything.

From this we can deduce one of two things, that there are no villains in the final expansion or that the villains already comes with its own oversized card.

I'm betting it's option two.

The new Unity power is interesting especially since the Golem Destruction is not a requirement to put a new one into play from your trash.

I really like all of these new powers.   However, with AZ I would have figured it was cold damage he dealt and that was dealt to him would have been increased by one but this makes sense too.

From Reddit user Mauvus, here are the incap powers!  I think Bunker's first one is really creative.

Unity:

  • One Hero may use a power now.
  • Destroy 1 ongoing card.
  • Reduce Damage Dealt to non-character cards by 2 until the start of your next turn.

Bunker:

  • Put a deck in its trash.
  • One player discards 2 cards and draws 2 cards.
  • Destroy 1 hero ongoing or equipment card. Play the top 2 cards of that hero's deck.

Absolute Zero:

  • One player may play 1 card now.
  • Destroy 1 ongoing card.
  • Reduce all non-cold damage by 1 until the start of your next turn.

Guise:

  • Thanksgiving has declared war on Christmas! Each player who discards a card may draw a card.
  • War rages on! One hero uses a power, then turns one hero non-character card in play face-down.
  • Flip 1 face-down card, treating it as put into play.

The destroy then shuffle is awesome, and I'm glad Christopher went that direction with Reconfigure.  1hp Cryo Bot turning into a platform Bot, that turns into a Timely Stealth Bot, it is fun.

Also makes Unity a fantastic target for Embolden, because putting a Bee Bot into play only to explode it into Mr Chomps is just the best.

Bunker has some great combos he can pull off with his new power.  Really fun options.

That's the best part of those 2 promos, they take away something that the deck can make up for, but give you in return options for cool stuff.  I am a big proponent of things that are more awesome than powerful, and both of those fit the bill perfectly.

I kinda want to see incap Guise + Parse + Scholar (either version)…

Edit - I probably misinterpreted his incap power.  I was thinking that it meant that until his power wore off, any time a hero discarded a card they'd draw a new one.  If it's just a one-time "discard 1 and draw 1" on Guise's turn that would…make more sense and be far more balanced.  Still nice for a few heroes though!

For example, Modular reconfiguration:

First you put an equip in play, then:

Deal 1+2+2 Fire damage to AZ, deal 5+2 Cold damage to any target. (or self for 9)

Then

Deal 1+2+2 cold Damage to AZ

With Thermal Shockwave is insanely easy to incap yourself.

Embolden on AZ with Thermal lets you double dip on Shivers when you use Thermal, which is just crazy.

Crazy is an understatement.  I just had a game where I played Hoarfire (using the first cold attack to heal) and used Thermal Shockwave (using one attack to heal) after double dipping on Shivers (one was from last turn, the other from incapped Legacy)  and the resulting fire damage reduced AZ from full health to -6.  So, lesson learned: double dipping will probably get me killed.

I think I'd set myself up to use Coolant Blast a lot more with this version.   If he had higher health I might risk a bit more but at 25 he is on the low end for sure.

Edit: at 29 health for normal AZ I've had times where I've accidentally killed myself not realizing how much cold damage was dealt.   Though at the same time with Null Point Calibration out you are obviously getting healed for a lot more and I feel this makes Cryo Chamber an equipment piece I want out more based on this new power.

A crazy piece in my mind is with Frost Bound Drain with Isothermic and Null Point out.   Deal on target five cold damage, deal your seven fire damage, and them hit a target for nine cold damage or hit yourself for eleven cold netting in four health gained.

Thinking of HP on these promos only Unity gains health at 27 from the base version at 26 and Golem Unity at 24.   Santa Guise goes down to 25 from 27 on the base Guise card.   Absolute Zero is at 25 for this new promo down from 29 in his base version and 27 on the Elemental Wrath version.  Bunker goes down to 26 on this version which is down from 27 on the GI and Engine of War Promos whereas the base version had 28.

(copied from playtesting)

You have 5 power cards that will help you get Golems into play, both are awesome, as 1 let’s you discard to put one into play, and the other gets you 2 into play.  You have 2 cards (flash forge) that will let you search for those equipment, it will also let you discard a golem and put it right into play that turn with Reconfiguration.  So that is actually 7 cards that will let you get a golem into play turn 1.  (Flash Forge is actually the best card in the deck for this promo)

At 7 target cards your odds of having a card that lets you play a golem are 55% first turn, 71% at 6 cards, and 91% at 11 cards.

Original Unity had 12 cards that would let you get a Golem into play first turn, giving you: 78% first turn, 90% at 6 cards. (not counting other player's equipment)

Ouch. That is a big difference. (all odds assume Golem in hand, since innate powers do not affect those odds)

You lose a good deal of cards that can get you that initial Golem, and gain the awesomeness that is Flash Forge with this power and a fallback of draw a card if everything else on the power fails.

Also any other effect that can make you discard early can help you get going.

I like that Golem Unity gives you the easiest path to putting golems in play, but her sustainability and recovery aren't good, Regular Unity has good odds of getting golems into play, better sustainability and the same recovery, Termination Unity gives you the worst hand to play odds, but with crazy good recovery and improved sustainability.

Thanks Phantaskippy for that.   I do like the ability to get destroyed Bots back out and the idea of getting a few uses out of a Bee Bot.   I agree that Flash Forge becomes really good in this setup as I can discard Golems and just search for equipment to put out Golems instead.    It also means with Flash Forge I could still get a bot into play that same turn without a Swift Bot out.   It does make Robot Reclamation a bit worthless as I would primarily use it just to draw a card with this power.

Yeah, the biggest issue with Unity's recovery is her trash-to-deck options are Bot specific. Late game, chances are you've used most, if not all, of your equipment already, so even having a hand full of bots is tough to get out on the field. Reconfiguration lets you get past that hurdle easily, and to effectively makes your trash into your hand, bot-wise. Also makes it a lot easier to sacrifice bots for the greater good instead of needing them to be constantly protected to be effective.

Hell, put a couple Volatile Parts out there, and it's also a damaging base power.

kill I am in agreement with you here because I much prefer to see the game released into chronological order. There are parts of vengeance and psyenergy with the game that is lost with the different release schudule and the main thing is the heroes. Wouldn't mind seeing vengeance broke into two parts, the heroes and environments in one and the villains in another. Especially how large Vengence is with respect to a regular expansion and not sure the time table to do the code for all the things they will have to change in season 2. But then again same argument could be made to split villains into two packs when it comes time to release that.

The tough part here is dealing with:

1)  Multiple heroes as one hero

2)  Multiple villains as one villain.

When they tackle one, they'll probably have the other mostly tackled as well.  Whereas Wrath doesn't have these issues.

I could definitely see the app's UI update as things get more cluttered. Perhaps we'll eventually get a better solution to showing a long line of cards, like the hero or deck selection screens.

I'm sure we will see more UI changes over time.  Based on what they have done so far they keep making incremental changes instead of sweeping ones which I like.

for the multiple heroes as one aka the Sentinels, I see them just doing what they did with the ennerd since most of the rules governing them are the same. Issue is UI for the multiple villains. More than likely we will see more like we see for the heroes now where we have a bar with all the heroes and a blacked out space for who is playing and then on the other side just have the multiple villians in slots. When it is the villians turn we will see a flip. The only downside to this method is knowning what is in play. I dont see any other way around it though. Again though I think the UI is going to be the part that gets them into trouble for the vengence expansion and ultimately a long delay between wrath and vengence of about 5-6 months unless they start planning a bit now. We already saw this a bit between infernal relics and mini-pack 2 due to multiplayer. This is why I like the idea of sliptting vengence into two parts of heroes and environments in one and villians in another just to sedate our thirst for new content.

Plus I want them to get as much done as possible so they can start on the sentinel tactics app :sunglasses:

I like this AZ quite a bit, because with just the modules (or even one) and a damaging one-shot you are already set up to do pretty crazy things. You don't need thermal shockwave, coolant blast, or focused apertures quite as much, although of course it is insane when you get them.

I would say that Null-Point Calibration Unit probably becomes your most important piece of equipment -- that and someone to tank for you. The base power would be outright suicide against, say, The Matriarch, otherwise.

Even fully set up, his HP is going to swing from near-death to full so often it's going to get the bends.

Wait, can Unity call a bot back and draw a card without destroying a bot?

With this power you could put a Mechanical Golem (bot) into play from your trash even if one isn't in play currently to be destroyed.   Then you still can choose whether to draw a card or not and that is not dependent on any of the other parts of the power.

So, clarification here -- does it say destroy a golem? Because on the wiki, the image of the card says, "Shuffle a golem from play into your deck."

Which would mean that you wouldn't get the destroyed effects of a Bee Bot or Volatile Parts.

The wiki image is an early one.  It should say to destroy a Golem then to shuffle.

Hey, anybody tried “I Can Do That, Too” on Reconfigure? Guise could just play the golem with his standard power.

Once he draws the Golem he could play it off his base power but I think the Unity player might be upset you destroyed their Golem.

I did that with Santa Guise… I ended up getting her golem face down in my play area

I just had a random thought regarding the promo erm, Bunker, I think. Whichever one has the incap ability of "put a deck in its trash". What would happen if you used this when fighting Ambuscade when he had some "armed" traps in his deck? Would you just go through and "disarm" them and put them in the trash along with the rest of the deck? It would seem a bit weird to leave them flipped, anyway.

I would think that they go into the trash unflipped.

This is easily my favorite Bunker yet, and he will totally replace the base version for me (the other two may still be better for specific matches). I LOVE him.

Something non-obvious about the new Unity - if you don't have any golems in your trash and don't have any golems in play, you can still activate her power to draw a card. As people pointed out, the draw is not conditional on the destroy succeeding, but it's also not conditional on the "move into play" succeeding. It's super helpful when you get a really bad starting hand with either no golems or no way to play golems, but you do have other cards that can be played (volatile parts, brainstorm, etc).

The spouse and I played two games so far with the promos. The first one was promo Guise, Unity, and AZ with normal Visionary vs Advanced Deadline in Pike Industrial, and we just crushed him. We weren't trying to make a challenge, we just wanted to play around with promo AZ. And, we got lucky - turn one Twist the Aether on Deadline won the game right off the bat. AZ kept his power up with both modules out, and Twist was used to reduce Deadline's AoE damage to others by 1 and increase it to AZ by 1 and turn it into Fire (or cold if he was hurt). 3 infernal damage became 4 fire which became 6 fire which became 9 cold damage. Once unity gave him an out of turn power use so he could stack his base power, making him dealing 1 cold damage to himself heal him for 10 (no cryo chamber). The game ended with a max HP AZ using Coolant Blast for 30 damage.

Unity's promo power was pretty useless in that game, sadly. She just never had golems in her trash. With Twist on Deadline reducing his damage by 1 combined with an early Stealth Bot and an army of Platform Bots, her bots just weren't taking damage, and if they did, she drew some timely inspired repairs. Sure, beebot could have really helped kill those ongoings, but with three other heroes that could do it, it just wasn't worth giving up a bot when she could play more instead with pylons. Also, Deadline kept severing ley lines, causing me to shuffle her discard back into her deck, so she rarely had golems in her trash anyway. We were thinking that Visionary could help her discard golems to play later with her base power, but it just wasn't ever useful in that game.

Santa Guise is the best hero. He gave everyone three presents and waited while they opened them. He's so awesome and totally won the game. Most of Unity's presents contained raptors. Would order again.

(Also, when Deadline rent the environment the first time, he killed all the rats, pied piper style. The second time, he killed all the vat explosions, which makes LITERALLY NO SENSE. xD "I shall bring disaster and ruin to this world in order to save it! But first, some workplace safety. The rats have to go, they're a health hazard, and then let's see if we can do something to make those vats safer to handle. And THEN, when this workplace is fully OSHA-compliant, I shall rent the very world ashunder!")

Our second game was even more ridiculous. We wanted to see just how many presents Santa Guise could fit under the tree. Santa Guise, Grandpa Legacy and PW Argent Adept to help hand out presents, and Termination Bunker (really just because I wanted to try him) vs The Advanced Chairman in Silver Gulch. Much shenanaghins abounded, like Santa Guise using "I can do that too!" to copy Grandpa Legacy's power to make Santa Guise give out presents, and then during Santa Guise's power phase, using his other base power to have someone open their presents. We decided what was happening there was Grandpa Legacy put on a santa suit to hand out presents, but when he arrived, he found Guise there in a santa suit wearing a Legacy costume over it, and then a second santa suit over that. The best though was when Argent got going, and we had Santa Guise use "I Can Do That Too" to use Grandpa Legacy's base power to make Argent Adept use a power, who then let Santa Guise play a card and gave everyone 2 HP and himself an extra 2, for a total of 5 healing to Argent and 2 to everyone else. "I Can Do That Too" turning into 11 points of healing without even spending the card play is kinda absurd.

Argent Adept was NOT HAPPY though to go looking for his instruments and realize they were nowhere to be found. It seems Guise snuck in, stole his unique, mystical artifacts, wrapped them up, and gave them to Argent for Christmas.

Promo Bunker's power just wasn't interesting though. He never had a card out that I wanted to destroy that I could destroy. Ammo Drop never stopped being useful with Omnicannon out early and tons of villain targets dying all the time. I could never not afford to maintain gatling gun. The modes can't be destroyed generally since two prevent powers from being used and there was never really a reason to go into them. The only real use I could see to his power was to do silly things that netted drawing a card, which his normal base power can do in a much more straightforward manner. I'm really not seeing the benefit of his promo power yet.

Also, opening 7 presents at once is the best thing ever when you're Argent Adept and two of them are Arcane Cadence. Though, it's probably the worst thing ever when you're in the game where someone does that and you're not that person.

Try comboing Termi-nation Bunker’s base power with the second power use from Turret Mode, and then just destroy Turret Mode. That was the most obvious combo that I’ve done with him.

I would combo his new power with Recharge or Upgrade Mode.   Do the play card action last.  In the case of Recharge Mode you get an extra card draw and DR for round and can choose to keep it out your next round.   With Upgrade Mode it means on your next turn you get two card plays without losing a power phase the prior round.

Ya, our new goal for Gloomweaver is just to kill Bunker as fast as possible to chuck all 3 Relics in the trash in one action. Hooray for winning!

While in Upgrade Mode, play a card, then for your second card play Turret Mode which destroys Upgrade Mode and then allows you to use powers, so use an attack power, then use your base power to destroy Turret Mode and do more shenanigans :-)
