Is the next expansion after villains the final one?
Is the next expansion after villains the final one?
I haven't heard about an expanision after the villains. Is there word that there will be at least one more?
The will definitely be a last mega expansion. The question is will the next one be the last.
I thought the one after Villains would close all the nemesis relationships, and then the game would be “done.”
That's the prevailing thought but nothing has been officially said in regards to how many SotM expansions are left
So there's still hanging nemesis relationships? And is the popular speculation that it will be a mega expansion or what?
With the Villains of the Multiverse release each hero will have a villain deck with their nemesis icon http://sotm.wikidot.com/nemesis-chart
Hopfully they announce the final expansion after villains ships.
We also still don't know who Chokepoint's nemesis will be. My guess is still either Bunker or Unity
I believe Chokepoint is going to have multiple heroes as a nemesis.
Villains of the Multiverse is the penultimate Sentinels of the Multiverse expansion.
That makes Wrath of the Cosmos the 3rd to last. How antepenultimate.
That could mean either VotM is the next to last expansion or just last in the current series of expansions depending upon the definition used. ![]()
If the word penultimate is not used somewhere on the Villains box I will be a sad panda.
She’s prominent in KNYFE’s deck, too.
Choke who will become Chokepoint was a nemesis in the V5 decks with KNYFE as a nemesis. With the villains in VotM we've seen some of the same villains who had their own standalone villain decks reappear but with a different nemesis. I suspect if KNYFE is nemesis of Chokepoint that she won't be the only one.
Edit: I will add that Baron Blade in both forms has Legacy as a nemesis but I don't think we will see a repeat nemesis here.
Looking forward to the LAST MEGA EXPANSION I love this game
Me, too. Seriously.
Good times.
Final expansion after villains so excited
I predict a giant heap of awesomeness.
I am cautiously optimistic.
I am optimistically cautious.
I am caustically optional.
I'm optically cautious.
I'm contractually obligated.
I am ontologically contractuated.
I'm obligatorily contrarian.
We know the last expansion will add new gameplay style. I can't wait to see what it is.
I'm a little sad it won't get expanded on, because Vengeance was solid but Villains is going to make that format much better.
I also really hope GtG is open to keeping SotM alive through fan content like with the villain contest that resulted in Kismet.
No, you’re not.
You can't stop me.
Sad. The game needs more expansions.if not then would like to see another cooperative sentinels game coming out
I'd much prefer SotM to end before it jumps the shark rather than going down the make-way-too-many-expansions-because-fans-will-keep-buying-them route that some other games have taken. More is not always better. Don't get me wrong, I love SotM, but I would hate to see it reach the stage where new heroes start to get repetitive and/or boring because all the good deck ideas have been used already.
And I'm really looking forward to seeing how all the plot threads come together as the story arc finishes. I don't want to wait for years to find that out while the game gets needlessly expanded.
I recommend checking out the many fan-made decks available on BGG if you want more stuff. The Cauldron fan expansion gets a lot of love over there - I have most of that myself and find the heroes to be quite fun. The villains are less well-designed but still interesting, and the environments can be pretty brutal so might be worth considering them if you want to make easy villains more challenging.
Besides, worse comes to worse, there are still plenty of fan expansions out there that you can try out. I've heard great things about The Cauldren fan-expansion
Edit: I did not actually read the entire post above me, I now apologize for being a broken record
Great minds think alike, huh?
Also, we think alike too. ;)
I’ve never seen so many people so excited about something they love coming to an end.
But it's not coming to an end. We'll be able to play it pretty-much forever.
There are a lot of choices available with the sets we already have. And we're going to get a set to fill-out the Vengeance-style options, along with another set on top of everything!
Plus, coming out of the villain context (way-back-when) I created my own villain (with a related environment) and a friend also created one, so we have those to play with. I'm not big on fan-made content, but at some point I might check out other options.
I'll admit I'm a little worried about how the final set will introduce a new play style, but I trust the GtG folks to deliver interesting stuff, so we'll see how it works out.
The thing about this final release that is most exciting to me is to not be answering the question "How do I get previous promos?" anymore, I can't wait for the the promo pack to come out!
The “end” excites me because >G have certainly proven that 1) they can make a terrific universe to play in and 2) they can make a great game. After Sentinels of the Multiverse is complete, I look forward to both more content in the Multiverse and more awesome games in new universes. (Hopefully some more co-op ones! That’s one of the things that distinguishes Sentinels.)
I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the Sentinels play style applied to other settings and types. Like maybe a full sci fi or fantasy setting.
Endings are good, if they are at the right time. I'd hate to watch an otherwise really good movie that went on for days before the plot got resolved.
I think that SotM is ending at the right time. And then we'll get different things that are also awesome.
There's a not very good anime called "Wings of Havarone" or something similar where a space flight is delayed for 3 days. And it feels like it takes 3 RL days to resolve! :P
I'm reminded, appropriately enough, of Justice League Unlimited.
Would I have loved to see more of the show? Yes.
Was it good to end while it was still very good? Absolutely.
This, it's a great engine and I'd love to see it applied to some other genre or storyline.
So, in total, Sentinels will have four normal expansions and three mega expansions. I wonder how many mini-expansions that will be... So far, there's nine, with two more on the way.
It'll be especially interesting to see what the total card count will be after everything.
The final boss has you burning your cards one by one to reduce its HP.
i like the fantasy setting idea. Could see some fun stuff with this especially keeping with the same format. Do some kingdom, where environments are different locations in the kingdom and heroes of the kingdom and some evil monsters or villains. The best part about this if they use the same formula there is no reason we can't have some cross over battles. I don't know about you guys but I love cross overs. ![]()
personally I wouldn't mind a few fun mini expansions from g>g. Best idea I have is an environment set in the greater than games offices/warehouse. each card could be either a different member of greater than games or part of the hq. Just be a crazy fight location. Adam already has half the artwork done for the the greater than games team.
I've always wanted to see an environment that takes place in megapolis's Iron Legacy future (or wherever his main "headquarters" is)
only issue with this is the timelines are supposed to be fixed now and flowing correctly. So not sure how this one will fit in story wise
Gods, I hope not. I like the engine, sure, but I hope that any other game that comes out using it would change it up a fair bit. Otherwise they're just cranking out more Sentinels expansions but without the lore and with arbitrary declarations about what can be played with what.
My only hope is that the last expansion comes in a box big enough to store all the expansions (and mini-expansions and promos) together. :)
I'm pretty sure everything will need to be split across at least two boxes unsleeved. That would be a huge box to ship if it could.
And poor Craig would have to fold all those boxes together!
Has a ship date for the next expansion been announced yet? If not, do people have any probably wildly inaccurate guesses as to when it may ship?
Villains of the Multiverse? Pretty sure we'll see that before the end of the calendar year, but I don't think a hard date has been announced.
