Playing sentinels has been extremely fun for me so far.  So much so that I have bought every expansion out there, except a couple of mini expansions and the Villains that is not out yet.  In doing so, I have seen quite a few things and tried some crazy ideas.  Furthermore, I have read every hero's backstory so I can get a feel for the comic book scenarios.  It is because of some of these scenarios that I've come up with ideas for my own personal use, one of which I want to share now, just because it was fun for me and I feel it could be for others.

That is, I went and did the Three Legacies vs Iron Legacy, as stated in their combined character backgrounds.  However, unlike what's meant to happen(In a completely unofficial game), I did not use the same deck for all three.  At this point, I know many are going to disagree or be upset that I've decided to change things around from what is intended, however; this is simply for personal use.  This scenario is one I would never force anyone else to do, but if they agreed, I would love to.

Each Legacy uses a different deck based on their powers, fighting style and skills based on what's written in their background.  First is America's Finest Legacy, he uses the base Legacy deck.

America's Greatest Legacy is one I thought long and hard about before implementing.  When I was done, I gave him Wraith's deck.  There are many reasons I chose to do so, most having to do with his fighting style and powerset.  I remember reading in the video game that the power Greatest developed through genetic evolution was unparalleled eyesight, making him an excellent marksman.  With that in mind, Wraith's deck is the best alternative.  With her reliance on projectile damage(therein, Guns for Greatest), though she does have some melee(for his super strength).  On top of this, her infrared eyepiece works well with his keen eyesight, allowing him to see the Enemy's next move before it's too late.  There is one huge reason I chose Wraith that might feel uncanny.  Her Self-suture works well with explaining why Greatest can heal others, he's a trained field medic and after all, Greatest doesn't have his son/granddaughter's nigh invulnerability.  And finally, her utility belt is a great analog for his Legacy Ring.

Pauline Parsons, AKA Young Legacy, was a bit more complicated, given her background.  She has all of her dad's powers plus essentially heat vision.  I chose to use Tempest's deck for her.  However, Knyfe might have worked, too(but I don't know Knyfe well enough since I've only played her once).  For Tempest, I changed all instances of "Lightning" damage to "Energy" in order to simulate her heat vision, and then "projectile" became "melee."  I know this seems drastic, but at the time I couldn't think of anything better.  Tempest has the otherworldly resilience which is a great analog to her nigh invulnerability that she boasts so much.  He also focuses heavy on damage and less on tanking, much like Young Legacy.  Out of all the heroes I've played regularly, the combination of constant damage and the few analogs to her backstory, Tempest had the best feel.  She doesn't have the whole, "Lead from the Front" like her father, however, because her brash personality focuses more on attacking than defending(she's not much of a leader).  And for her last note, she does not need an analog for the Legacy Ring, because this Pauline Parsons never received it, as her father did not die(It was present time Pauline that fought against Iron Legacy as stated in her profile as Beacon).

That concludes my decisions for the Legacy trio.  Feel free to let me know what you think(hopefully constructive criticism), but remember this is just for a fun thematic game, not for any official changes or to ruin anything the staff here has created.

P.S: If you like these ideas, feel free to use them and tell me how they work out for you!

Edit 6/11/2015:

After trying various scenarios, I've found little problems with this setup.  I've playtested against Iron Legacy(He stomped us, but we had almost no setup between the heroes due to bad hands), Spite(We lost, but it was really close), Baron Blade(We outright destroyed Baron, but that happens with pretty much anyone and a decent hand) and The Chairman(We won, but we were left with an average of 12 HP thanks to Legacy/Grandpa Legacy healing).

Sounds pretty interesting! Did you use the three Legacy character cards, or did Young Legs have Squall and Old Legs have Stealth?

You also may want to take a look on Board Game Geek; Braithwhite has variant decks for the two Legacies, so if you wished you could play the three Legacy game with those as well.

Apparently my search-foo suck this morning. Anyone have a link to Braithwhite's BBG post?

I took a look at that deck, and it seems fun, but in order to use that deck you would need more resources.  I created this idea as a means to do so without extra cost(for players who cannot afford more stuff or do not know how to make their own cards).  Also, I gave the Legacies their own powers, but lowered their HP to that of the hero they were replacing to make it more fair.

Wow, that sounds like a very fun tool for variation!  I wonder which other decks would work well for playing with a swapped character card.  I could imagine a scenario of choose a random (but compatible) deck for each hero.

This is pretty neat. Tempest's deck does have some good analogs to Legacy's, down to the armor and even healing and support (Reclaim from the Deep is a fantastic counterpart/compliment to Bolster Allies).

That was essentially my own thought pattern as I looked through several decks.  I also wanted to try with Bunker, but Bunker makes sense to use the same deck(though you could theoretically use Expatriette for G.I. Bunker).

With this style of variation, though, it's important to keep track of who is actually who so you don't mix things up(I made that mistake in one playthrough.
