I just had to share the tale of the epic beating I handed to Checmical Immortality Chairman last night. Happened across a team that's just insanely good: Grandpa Legacy, Omnitron X, Scholar, The Sentinels, and Chrono-Ranger. My plan was that I could set up Scholar so that healing him would let him hand out damage, and then let him simultaneously tank and beat on enemies while he was healed by Legacy, Omnitron X, and Doc Medico. But that didn't even happen.

Legacy got out Inspiring Presence pretty quickly, and kept using his power to let Omnitron use his, which let someone else play a random card. The real damage-doers turned out to be Chrono-Ranger and The Sentinels. It got very difficult to track whose turn it was sometimes when Legacy would use his power on Omnitron X, who'd let Scholar play a card that let everyone else use a power. But by the end, Chrono-Ranger had Hunter and Hunted out along with a few bounties, and was doing upwards of 20 damage per turn, and every time The Operative would retaliate, he got to use another power because of a bounty. Legacy protected him two rounds in a row with Heroic Interceptions so he didn't get killed from the effects of Hunter and Hunted, and nobody (except Legacy) took much damage from the Chairman's retaliation. We ended the game with all heroes at close-to-max HP.

It was glorious.

That's pretty sweet.  I don't know that I've ever gone into a fight with Scholar thinking he would be the main damage dealer.  I like to think he gets his hits in where he can.   CR with that setup would ramp up quickly and wiht little fear of extra damage from Hunter and Hunted just makes him more deadly.

I've had a couple of games where I pushed Scholar into doing more beatdown then tanking. Often it occurs if someone else grabs the reins as far as taking hits.

With the right set up and some external healing, he can be a machine.... gun. :)

The main problem is it takes 3 Elemental cards to make it really shine, where as you can get by as a tank with one. With two energies and one liquid, however..... Add in some amps from Legacy, or the lovely, for this, Phosphorescent Chamber and things go nuts.

When Grandpa Legacy lets Scholar use his power that lets him draw 3 and keep 2 cards and he can use it again on his own turn, discarding 3 per turn becomes a non-issue.

Grand Warlord Voss, scourge of the space, was recently schooled by a blind auto mechanic. Mr. Fixer was cheered on by Visionary and Grandpa Paul. Fanatic and Unity also helped.

This was a case of duel crowbars, ToE, Inspired Presence, Harmony, and Grease Monkey Fist combining with Gung Ho into two instances of 5 points of damage and two instances of 9 points of damage a round. Everything else was pretty much bonus.
