Do people have this happen often? Or storyline events play out in the game?

I had tried Miss Information with the Freedom Five in the Freedom Tower and that was a horrible mistake or I just had really bad luck. So I tried again with three heroes - Parse, Haka, and Fanatic - in Pike Chemicals. Miss Information ended the turn with one hit point remaining and the Irradiated Cyclohexine Vat was out. So environment draws vat explosion and that's it. I guess she got washed away into Sentinel Tactics or something.

Was kind of cool.

We did a game that was the Freedom Six vs. Iron Legacy... It didn't end well. We died prettys swiftly between Galvanized, 2 Demoralizing Presences, and Vigilence. We were all taking 6 damage per card play

Oh ouch. Six heroes seems like it's pushing the outer edges of the game a bit, too.

TBH Iron Legacy kinda scares me.

I know, I stopped playing 6 hero teams, but I had to bend the rules for that one thematic fight. And i know what you mean, I have fought IL a decent amount of times (because I actually really like him), but I've only beat him 3 times, one of those time was on advanced. That being said, he is still exceptionally brutal. I typically rule that we choose the villian AFTER everyone chooses heros, but IL is the one exception where I allow coordinated teams. He's the only one that rule doesnt work well with (I even have had out group beat advance Chairman and advanced Matriarch on a team made before the villian was picked). I also did Freedom Five vs Vengful Five, Tachyon really went to town in that fight between the hypersonic assaults and the sonic vortexs. That fight was in Megalopolis, because it seemed appropriate.

But I will agree, its really fn to do fights based off of comic book Canon, or themes. I know one of my favorites is Omnitron-X vs. Omnitron in Omnitron IV

I really want to do Omnitron-X vs. Omnitron in Omnitron IV. That's the first one I really wanted to do but I just haven't managed to get to it yet. I'm slightly paranoid about getting overwhelmed by environment + villain drone stackage, but I'm sure it'll work out okay if I know what I am playing and how.

I've also been organizing characters around teams a bit - like playing the Freedom Five against Miss Information (that did not come out in my favor) and Prime Wardens (well the three with the least AOE) vs. The Dreamer (that did).

Really, the thing that attracted me to the game was the sheer diversity in heroes vs. villain in environments, and it's playing out that way. And the "historical" stuff is fun.

I've done that fight. If you can get Bio-engineering beam out early, you can keep the enviornment from overrunning you.

I could be wrong, but my brain tells me that 6-player games are officially acceptable in the rules, but only if it's Freedom Six vs Iron Legacy. But my brain is wrong quite often, so take that with a pinch of salt.

I wasn't thinking of breaking rules or whatever so much as having H=6 with Legacy can sting a bit.

I think Silverleaf meant that the player limit on the box is five. Not that I have any objections to setting up a Freedom Six game, though, that’s great!

Take a look at the story challenges. One challenge for each hero is usually a situation from card art, like Tempest preventing damage to Visionary.

Yeah, I figured she meant that too.

One thing I havent done yet theme wise is have a team composed only of the people who were at Silver Gulch and have them fight there. But if I were to do that, who would I fight there in order to make it a bit more sensical?

We like to set up games that "make sense." Then when we inevitably lose, we reroll the game with our "heavy hitters", a small group of characters that we seem to do really well with.

We did do Miss Information vs. Freedom Five (well, four of them) in Freedom Tower, and we did do the Jan Brady game (Omnitron, Omnitron, Omnitron!), and we did F4 vs. V4 (all F5ers minus AZ, all V5ers minus Prole). We did Chrono Ranger, Omni-X, Visionary, and KNYFE vs. La Capitan in Silver Gulch for a little time-travel shenanigans. We did Ra + three others vs. the Ennead in the Tomb of Anubis.

I have a hard time doing games that seem completely random. the Chairman in the Enclave of the Endlings, or Spite in the Doktorath Capital. There's just a little mental block there. I have to see the story and be able to say, "Oh, Spite's attacking the Block to get at some drugs they have in the infirmary" for the game to make sense to me. I have bent that rule only for games against villains we NEED to defeat for catharsis purposes... La Capitan, Matriarch, and the Chairman have all attacked the Mobile Defense Platform, much to the chagrin of Baron Blade's various Mechanics and Shield Generators, who basically seem to sit there and hang out with themselves while our battle rages on. ;) Villains used to attack Freedom Tower with some regularity, as well, until there came too many Forced Entries and the Simulation Room kept acting up. Now Our Heroes tend to try to take those fights elsewhere. ;)

By the way, how are the Prime wardens together. I've haven't been able to play a prime wardens round because nobody in my group wants to play as Captain Cosmic.

Oh man, I really like Captain Cosmic. :) We haven't played all the PWs together, but I actually like PW Adept better than his "normal" version most of the time, and we've used PW Fanatic to good effect with Dr. Medico there to heal back the damage she takes from her base power.

Oh same, PW Fanatic works great with the sentinels. PW AA is really good, PW Haka is also really good support/damage, and PW Tempest can be really deadly if plsyed right. I can imagine they work great together

The Prime Wardens are insane together. Captain Cosmic putting his "use a power when this is hit" on the Argent Adept produces 0.87 Guises of shenanigans.

I know when one of my friends usually puts that construct on tempest with cleansing downpour so whenever it takes damage, it gets healed right away, along with everybody else.

The Wardens have unreal synergy.  Everyone gives extra plays and powers. It gets really absurd quickly, just make sure someone who can eat ongoings (oh, that's half the team) is after Fanatic in case of unwanted End of Days.

I really liked Captain Cosmic, I just wish I had known he was more support than damage dealer when I put him on a team with Argent Adept and Fanatic. Even so, that team was able to deal with Dreamer rather handily and constant construct loss wasn't a big deal.

That was my cognitive dissonance with him, too. I was thinking he'd be Green Lantern with energy boxing gloves and stuff, but he was more about support. Which is honestly fine, since I really enjoy support roles in this game. When I look around the table and see his constructs on everyone else, and I get to interrupt people to remind them that they get to use a power for free, or they get this much damage reduction, etc., it's a ton of fun. And if you bring Unity, too, you can basically protect the Lowest HP Hero for the entire game without much effort!

Get Adept out either or both copies of Rhapsody of Vigour along with your choice of other stuff. Get Cosmic to give him a Dynamic Siphon. Get people to start deliberately plinking the Siphon with one (or two, if you have both Rhapsodies out) point of damage every turn. Sit back while the Adept spends all game activating all of his everything :D.

Yeah, I was worried that I had too much support and not enough damage with both Argent Adept and Captain Cosmic, but it turned out that blowing up some constructs dealt some serious damage and I got to six projections under Dreamer fairly quickly thanks to that as well as Fanatic's reliable damage dealing.

Overall, I have yet to play a support character I don't like, although I do not always expect a certain character to be support before playing them.

I think that while some characters are more clearly geared toward support than others, you can still choose to play them in other ways. For example, you could play a "punch everything!" Legacy, or get the Adept to use his buffs and damage-dealing on himself to actually kill stuff. It might even be fun to mess around with playing a hero against the way it seems they "should" be played, because then you might find a new way to play them. If the Scholar has enough card draw (hey there, TLT :D) he can start demolishing things with a couple of copies of his Liquid and Energy forms - make sure he takes some damage, use his base power to heal, the healing is increased by howver many Liquid forms you have out and then you get to deal that much damage (plus more if buffed by, say, Legacy) to something for each copy of Energy Form you have out :D. Also works well if another healing hero is around (eg Tempest, Adept). When I played him this way once, I actually had problems with being on full hp because I'd been getting too much healing, therefore couldn't heal in order to hit anything else.

It's just generally very cool to find out all the little nuances and tricks you can do with some heroes. In some cases it's a very specific set-up you need to get in order to pull something off (Visionary in her Cocoon with Twist and Wrest on a Psy-Weaver means death to all Minions at no extra cost :D), but when you do manage it, even if doing so is a complete accident and you didn't plan for it or even see it coming, it's brilliant :D.

I agree, we recently played a game with Legacy and the Adept in which the Adopt turned into a monster damage-dealer. I think we also had Prime Warden Fanatic, and we just kept calling on that double-buffed Scherzo…

PW Haka's power is extremely useful and gives me a reason to use the Hakas other than Battle. When fighting Progeny, I was sure I was going to lose Fanatic, but then I used Haka's power and Restoration to put Fanatic above a construct. It felt great.

That is great. PW Haka's power does look fairly promising.

A group of friends and I got together and played the Prime Warden team against Kraga Warfang, and it was one of the best matches I’ve had against her. Prime Warden Argent gets set up so much faster than regular Argent that by turn 3 he was tossing out plays and draws to Fanatic and Tempest consistently. As mentioned earlier, Fanatic’s power to play a card from top of deck then let Argent use a power (3 powers) led to endless hilarity. I wanna eventually do another PW game but against Advanced (and maybe Challenge) Akashbuta, see how well that goes.

I played the Primes Wardens against Ashkawhateverhernameis last week.

My word that team works well with each other! Captain Cosmic took a little getting used to as I still want to try and play him as a green lantern type damage dealer but once it clicked with me that he is all for support and ally-buffing it turns him into a bit of a monster!
