Wow. How did you get 25 damage out of Fixer? I like Fixer a lot and am still working out the kinks on him. The best I've done so far was 8 damage on the second hit of a Dual Crowbar.

Legacy had inspiring presence and galvanized, there was an explosive wagon out, ra had imbued fire out, and i had grease money fist, harmony and duel crowbars. So my total was at +7. I played out overdrive, where i hit one of the chairmans thug for 8, and then hit the operative for 8 + another 8 because of nemesis rules. So i hit her for 16, twice. So it was actually 32 damage dealt.

What do you mean another 8 for nemesis? Nemesis just means that you add one to the damage being dealt.

He hit the thug for 8 damage. You now take that 8 damage, add in the +7 from damage modifiers, and tack on an extra +1 for the nemesis, and you get 16 damage to the Operative with the second crowbar swing.

Ah, I see. In my case, an Infected Fixer had bit himself for 4 (Inspiring Presence, Galvanize, Grease Monkey (I think)), and then used the second hit to hit Plague Rat for 8.

It also seems as if Jack Handle trumps Infection attack, since it causes him to do "that damage" to all non-hero targets whenever he would do damage. It happened in one of my games yesterday. Fixer went to do himself 1 Irreducible, but instead dealt 1 Irreducible to all non-heroes thanks to Jack Handle.

There's all sorts of odd effects with Fixer that I'm learning from the app. When I've played before, I just played that Fixer dealt himself the 1 damage from Infection and THEN did the damage to all non-hero targets.

i don't mind the Dual Crowbars' change. Sure it ups his damage a bit, but it hasn't changed the way I play him. The main way it changed the way I play is that Driving Mantis + Dual Crowbars is not nearly as awesome as it used to be, which was frequently my go to combo as it was 4 damage to a single target or 2 damage to 2 targets.

I generally found this to be true before the ruling. Crowbars is just awesome. If I don't have any styles in play, I'll usually prioritize Crowbars or Pipe Wrench. If you need Fixer to provide steady damage output, Crowbars is generally your best bet, though the villain you're fighting and possible external damage boosts can change that.

I agree with your assement of crowbar

It's power is greatest by far

but it's still hard to find

So, at least in my mind

it's power does not overawe

Since Fixer doesn't have any tool tutors, or any draw other than Toolbox, you won't always have Crowbars in hand to use.  So even though it might be generally the most powerful tool, it doesn't overshadow the others the same way (for example) the Ultimate Target and By Any Means tend to get used more frequently than other bounties.

Well, the problem being that before I learned about the Crowbar rulechange, I always kind of thought they were just a less useful jack handle. Because all your getting out of it is +1 damage, which is something you can just get from Legacy anyway. I would rather have a  hit all targets than hit two for one extra damage. So I'm glad the ruling came around, it made the Crowbars more desirable than the Jack Handle in more scenarios.

They always served different purposes. One hits everything, which can be an issue in quite a few fights ( Dawn, Ambuscade, Voss sometimes, Matriarch and Chairman, and that's just who's been released already). The other hits 2, but it hits harder, which was useful because Strike is by nature a weak power. But with his deck, if it were much stronger it would be overpowered.

Wondering how that works, when an Infection on CR with HaH out will deal him 1+2xBounties Irreducible Toxic each round (HaH gets him for damage dealt and damage by, since he's hitting himself). It's suicide. He also takes 1+Bounties+Nemesis Irreducible Melee from PR each round. That's 3+3xBounties every round, minimum. That gets really huge really fast.

[Edit: Should have added thoughts on Fixer.]

I like Fixer. One Handelabra video suggests that he fixes problems, and that can be true. So long as he deals damage with Riveting Crane, then everyone cuts through the Damage reduction. Or he can bypass it alone with ATC to get rid of a high Def problem. Or he can redirect.

His damage isn't enormous, and he has no monster damage plays, so DPS players won't like him, but not all enemies need that. He does well in a target rich environment, where Chrono-ranger has issues with such decks.

He lacks healing. And he builds slow, since he has no capacity to play a second card per round. In a straight up comparison against Wraith, who I used in my CR comparison, Wraith comes out faster and harder than Mr. Fixer ever could, and has just as many options, except in the one case where Fixer goes for Crowbars. Fixer really needs to continue to build past Style+Tool+Harmony. He caps out far too low. Still, he has variety and flexibility that many DPS characters lack.

Also, damage per second. DPS is used more generally to mean "damage dealer" as a role. So Tempest, Ra, Expatriette, etc. could be called "DPS" although it's technically inaccurate.

That people haven't figured out that without outside buffs the first hit still does 2 damage?

PY

It doesn’t work because the second attack can’t hit the same final target of the first attack, and the second attack is for 3 damage which can’t be redirected.

So, if you hit Fixer for the first attack, then redirect it to a target, the second attack can’t hit that target. If the first attack hits a target, then the second attack is 3 and can’t be redirected.

Stop trying to set off my IBS.

Yes, DPS means damage per second, which may seem to not apply, but it actually does. More DPS means a faster game, whether by doing more damage per play or doing more damage by playing faster. Increasing damage per card and shortening time played per card both increase DPS.

No, that paragraph was not serious. There just isn't any other term I can think of that would be short and sweet and carry the meaning. Honestly had no idea anyone around here would never have encountered it before.

Here

Dual Crowbars works somewhat like Isothermic Transducer. The final damage dealt from the first instance of damage forms the initial amount/type/irreducibility of the second instance of damage. That means you can benefit twice from damage increases.

Was playing Mr. Fixer on the app last night and had a very weird circumstance that I'm guessing wasn't play as intended.  I had SST use Experiment to play cards from the bottom of Mr. Fixer's deck.  Out come TWO OVERDRIVES.  I was like crap, that's annoying, but at least they'll be in my trash.  But then low and behold the app lets me use Strike 4 times!

If you play overdrive as a result of some other means, does that mean you get to use strike twice immediatelly, or is it intended to allow you to use it twice IF you first get a power usage?

Actually that was the second weird thing in the same game.  I also had Expatriatte out with Pride, Prejudice, and Tactical Shotgun.  I played Unload, so I have 3 powers.  First power, Load to play an ammo, second power, Pride, then I wanted to use Prejudice as a "free" power with shotgun at the end, but the app counted Prejudice as my third power and forced me to move on to draw.  So what I had to do was go back and use in order Load, then Shotgun, then Pride with a free Prejudice.

PY
Pydro

If the extra power comes out not on your turn, you use it immediately. However, you should have only had two used of Strike not four.

Also, Expat was working correctly. Unload gives extra power uses, regardless of where they came from. So if you use Prejudice early, it will count as an Unload power.

AL
Arcanist_Lupus

I'm pretty sure you should have gotten only 2 strikes.  Because of the way it's worded, Overdrive gives you 2 bonus strikes when played on someone else's turn, but it doesn't stack.  The "2 uses of strike" provided by Overdrive overlap with, but are seperate from, the regular power use.  If Fixer has been granted another power (e.g. from Plague Rat, or Cosmic Weapon), he can actually use 3 powers in a turn.  Play Overdrive, then use the other power for the main power use.  He can still use Strike twice, which totals to 3 powers.

Unload behaved correctly.  Like Fixer above, Pride lets you fire Prejudice regardless of whether you normally would be allowed to, but it still counts as a power use towards your total power use quota.

EDIT: ninja'd

"You may use Mr. Fixer's Strike Power twice this turn."

The first Overdrive comes into play, Fixer strikes twice, Overdrive is resolved and goes to his trash.

The second Overdrive comes into play, Fixer strikes twice, Overdrive is resolved and goes to his trash.

Looks to me like it is working as intended.

Fixed that for you.  The same thing should happen if Unload is played twice in one turn - the effects shouldn't stack.

The key is that Overdrive and Unload aren't adding additional powers - they're setting the number of powers (or of Strike powers) you can use.  In Overdrive's case, that number is set to 2.  Multiple Overdrives will simply set that number to 2 multiple times.

Disagree.

Second Overdrive allows it. It doesn't say anything about "extra". It reads you can use it twice. No limitations.

If SST's Experiment brought out two Unloads for Expatriette, I would fully expect her to go to town with all her guns blazing and Setback reloading for her.

Overdrive says you can use Strike twice this turn and after the first Overdrive you have fulfilled that.  So the second Overdrive does nothing since Strike was already used twice this turn unless you skipped using Strike for some reason.  Even if Fixer managed to play Overdrive twice on his own turn he can still only use Strike twice on his turn.

It has already been an official ruling that more than 1 Overdrive played would still only result in 2 Strikes max. The reason Pydro gave above is 100% correct.

Maybe this is like Crowbars where there has been a change in the previous official ruling. But I'm inclined to think it's a bug.

You always follow the cards instructions to the letter.

But for a little more clarification, extra powers work as follows.

If you gain an extra power on your turn, you use it during your power phase.

If you gain an extra power on someone elses turn, you use it immediately.
