I have so far been mercilessly beaten in the arena twice now with randomised teams (3 man and 4 man respectively).

I really like the mechanics of the arena but i think I need to assemble a team tailored to defeat it.

I was thinking lots of AoE damage to rack up fan points so Tempest and Sky Scraper leap to mind, but who else would be good to round out a team to defeat this blasted arena?

I'm thinking Legacy for the extra damage buffs and maybe Scholar for tanking, but I tend to get stuck in my own playstyle so would like some suggestions I might not have thought of.

Focus on what gets points. For example, if you have Tempest, his base power won't get points without a boost (which is where Legacy works well with him), and he can get some pretty sweet titles - which also gets points. Unlike other games, it's not about giving and taking hit points, so building a team here is a little different (e..g, huge amounts of damage in one shot aren't a big deal).

Haka and Nightmist absolutely own in the Arena.  I once had Nightmist get 4 titles in 1 turn with a Heedless Lash into Oblivion into Investigation (not to mention the 5 favor she had already gained for rolling a 4 on one of the Oblivions)

I managed to get the required 20 fan points in my last match, but Kaagara had flipped and I was drowned under a sea of Gladiatorial damage before I could unflip her and be allowed to win!

Tempest, Legacy, Haka, Nightmist and Skyscraper looks like a good selection... I'll give it a shot!

Heroes that are really strong are ones that maximize use of titles, and minimize point gain by your enemies.

Titles:  you want a damage base power on the team, esp someone who uses it really well.  Fixer, Fanatic, Tempest, Ra, F6 Wraith, Guise, F6 AZ, Knyfe, they can all use it well.

I once used Immutus to gain Living Weapon on AZ, that was sick, as was Nightmist with Living Weapon.

One thing to remember is Guise can copy a base power, and if that base power is boosted by living weapon, all the better.

Chaos Lord is amazing, set yourself up to get it, a lot of heroes can get it, Ra, AZ, Adept, Knyfe, Nightmist, OX, etc.

Use your multi play cards wisely.

Unity is awesome for grabbing Stonejaw, put her late in team order and steal stonejaw with stealth bot for a good time.

For point denial Unity can be a double edged sword, stealth bot can single handedly dominate the match, but little bots award points to destroying gladiators.

Tachyon with synaptic and hypersonic is awesome, as are Haka and Fixer.

My top arena heroes:

1. Mr. Fixer:  grease gun and living weapon make him dominant.  DW Fixer can also be really strong.

2. Haka:  Rampage, taiaha if you get +1, ground pound, pw haka is even better, because you can deny points like a boss with shielding, and healing allies is often better than haka of battle.

3. Fanatic:  Fanatic can gain so many of the titles, and use them so well, and sacrifice actually shines here, letting you cut off points from many gladiators, zealous offense is wicked point denial, she can easily gain the damage taken titles, shes wicked.

4.  Sky-Scraper:  Monolith crushes point generation, and debilitator neuters warfang.  Be careful what titles you earn, she can backfire in a bad way.

5.  Expatriette:  Her variety of damage is extremely usefull for point generation, and her ammo is amazing.  Flak Jacket is best used to deny Warfang's big hit, a 2 point swing, and a well set up unload is a match winner.  I've topped 20 points in one turn 4 times with DW Expat.  Her synergy with Mr. Fixer and Sky-Scraper is even more crazy in the arena.

My favorite team for an arena stompfest is that list minus Haka, it is just unfair how dominant they can be.

I'll echo Fixer, man, he is one heck of a beast in the arena. I'm glad I decided to blow the dust off of him and re-assess him in prep for Rook City digital, I've found that he struggles some places but he does work in a lot of others.

I went for Fixer instead of Legacy in the end and yeah... he's a bit of a killer in that arena isn't he?!

Victory achieved, thanks for the advice folks!

It also took me three tries to beat Kaargra, and likewise, Mr. Fixer was the one that carried the team to victory. In the final turn, I had him dealing 7 damage to no less than four targets- irioncally and fittingly managing to claim the Champion title with the final blows.

The Naturalist in Rhino Form is pretty awesome in the arena.
