You were right: that was tough. He whooped me the first time, but vengeance was mine in the rematch. I'll probably try for best of three later on. As an aside, these are some of my favorite posts. I like these tough combos that inspire people to try to win.
Second aside: Is there an easier way to upload screenshots than snapping them and then cropping them down to 500 KB? It's too bad the default pic size (at least on my iPad) is too big to just upload.
Try this team: Legacy, Visionary, Wraith, Tachyon (Super Scientific, if you have her), and Tempest.
Use Visionary to give cards to Wraith until she has out Infrared Eyepiece and the Utility Belt, then use her to boost Tachyon. If you get a Twist the Ether put it on either Wraith or, more likely Tempest.
Tachyon should mostly focus on getting as many bursts in her trash as she can, but save your hypersonic assaults for when you need to keep Omnitron from dealing damage.
Tempest should focus mainly on dealing damage, boosted by Legacy. Later in the game, Wraith can help out with the damage. You want to keep the Infrared Eyepiece going, though, so you can bury Omnitron's card descrutction and EPEs.
Just tried it and it worked. Got a little dicey towards the middle when Infrared Eyepiece wasn't enough to keep Omnitron from destroying all of Wraith's Equipment, but the heroes pulled it out.
Hey now, no cheating. Part of the fun of the do better than mes (to me anyway) is trying to do it with the same heroes and enviornment as the poster. Helps me come up with new stratiges with characters.
To be fair the post just says "standard heroes" whatever that means.
That stinks. I was going to use a cat version of Legacy.
Only heroes that carry a standard into battle? I think we only have evidence of Legacy doing that on Inspiring Presence.
Dawn has a standard in the background when she's defeated, I'm sure she's a hero to somebody.
I won with the team you used, except SST over the non variant because I will never use normal Tachyon again.
I will never use normal Tachyon again
:C
Each version of Tachyon has their benefits. Normal Tachyon is still the best for setting up huge LSB attacks. Often with SST I find myself with a weak LSB or having it discarded.
I think original Tachyon is the most efficient, Team Leader is the most team-helpful, and SST is the fastest.
I use OG Tachyon most because SST is a bit too random for me, and when I do play her I always experiment on other decks.
I always play random and the only thing I NEVER use is original expat she just feels design flawed. She simply doesn't have the card draw to support that power especially since speed loading can already kill your hand. I will use character cards that feel not as good for the extra challenge thus Tachyon's original deck works well enough without being optimal. She hasn't earned play ban in my book.
Load is all about Unload, play a gun, gain a power.
So muh fun to use with Unity! Oh, a Raptor Bot and a Platform Bot? Don't mind if I do!
Regular Tachyon is if not as, then nearly as good, she just feels too passive for me. SST is always doing something, or trying to and failing spectacularly. I’m not against a more passive Tachyon - TLT is a monster - but I dont feel like regular Tachyon is strong enough to offset her being generally less fun to me. I have much the same problem with Captain Cosmic (especially the Prime Warden version), as at least in a group the other lets me either optimize constructs or make teammates vie for my favor (which isnt to say I favor pure damage since those are my least played heroes). Ultimately, it’s a play stye thing.
Compare Tachyon to Legacy, Team leader is as good a power as Galvanize, situationally worse or better, but roughly equal.
Original Tachyon is more Young Legacy (though not as powerful a power) her base power is all about her, and feeds her trash enough until you get Research Grant, which is when she takes off.
SST is Grandpa, can use that wicked power on herself or others. To me she is far stronger than original Tachyon used selfishly, because the odds of putting a burst card in your trash with Experiment are better than Research Grant, while feeding cards in play unreliably instead of feeding cards to hand.
The offset is the risk of discarding cards you want, but since it is from the bottom it takes a while before that can be a negative, at which point you are shuffling your deck anyway.
There will be games where it underperforms Rapid Recon->Research Grant, but those are rare animals.
