Hey there,

If this has been posted somewhere else, I've not seen it so sorry. But I was wondering if there is a complete list of heroes, villains and environments that include a bit of a bio with the complexity level and nemesis icon, basically what's in the rules, but on in 1 document, just so it's easier to choose everything. I hope there is somewhere....

Spiff has a lot of information in documents on his site, but I don't think his stuff has all of that in one document.

Maybe try the wiki at sotm.wikidot.com I believe.

I have just seen the wiki, I think I'll have to compile it into what I want, but that's a great starting place. Cheers

I think BGG has something like that in the files section.

I made these pics, if it's any help.  The hero one is a bit squished vertically, as I needed to fit everything into a certain image size.  Sorry about that.

You can have the document I used to make them too, if you like: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B08-FCDToRDxRjB6Smx1c1pPYjQ/view?usp=sharing

However, unless you have the proper fonts installed (CrashLanding and RedStateBlueState), it won't look the same.  The fonts are here: http://www.blambot.com/font_crashlanding.shtml http://www.blambot.com/font_rsbs.shtml

That's great, Estelindis! Thanks for sharing.

Quick question: What are the numbers by some of the environments?

They're difficulty rankings that Yoshi put together a while back.  However, I really should have taken a look at the current statistics project info.  That would probably yield more useful rankings.

Just for the record. Out of personal experience, Metropolis rated as a 2 instead of a 3 baffles me a bit. But thats just me and not terribly important.

Some of those difficulties and complexities are way off. How on earth is Expat a 2 but Knyfe a 1? Guise a 2 but Sentinels a 3? La Capitan the same difficulty as Ambuscade? Gloomy with literally any Other 3? Sheesh.

I understand that it can seem very hard, but based on this, it's one of the easier ones: http://x.gray.org/sentinels-of-the-multiverse-difficulty-scores.html

Here is a revised table (actually, it pastes in as a table, but the format doesn't stick, drat).

Dok'Thorath 1
Enclave of the Endlings 3
Freedom Tower 2
Insula Primalis 2
Megalopolis 2
Mobile Defense Platform 1
Omnitron IV 3
Pike Industrial Complex 2
Realm of Discord 2
Rook City 4
Ruins of Atlantis 4
Silver Gulch 1883 2
The Block 1
The Final Wasteland 1
Time Cataclysm 2
Tomb of Anubis 2
Wagner Mars Base 2

They're the official numbers.  I could make a revised one based on the stats, as above…

Here is a list of villain difficulties, based on Matthew Gray's score system.  The first number is normal; the second is advanced.  Numbers in square brackets are based on relatively low data, whereas question marks signify that there isn't enough data to make an estimate at all.

Agent of Gloom Spite 3/?
Akash'bhuta 2/2
Ambuscade 1/1
Apostate 1/1
Baron Blade 1/2
Citizen Dawn 2/4
Cosmic Omnitron 3/4
Deadline [1]/?
Gloomweaver 1/1
Grand Warlord Voss 2/4
Infinitor [2]/?
Iron Legacy 4/4
Kaargra Warfang [3]/?
Kismet 1/2
La Capitan 2/3
Mad Bomber Blade 1/2
Miss Information 2/4
Omnitron 2/3
Plague Rat 2/3
Progeny [2]/?
Skinwalker Gloomweaver 2/?
Spite 2/?
The Chairman 4/3
The Dreamer 3/3
The Ennead 1/4
The Matriarch 3/3
Wager Master [2]/?

I wasn't complaining at you, but thanks for this!  In my experience, and yes, sample sizes, advancec Matriarch is a 4, and Progeny is a beast, closer to 4 than 2.

No problem!  Yes, the 2 surprised me for Progeny.  I expect that'll change over time.

Advanced Matriarch has a loss rate of 35.96% (of 89 games) with regular being 36.01% (of 286).  Seems odd.

I get the feeling more advanced players play on advance mode, so that skews things, but advanced players are (anecdotally) more likely to use the randomizer. How this evens out is anyone's guess.

Good point about more skilled players being more likely to take on tough challenges.  Not sure how data can adapt to this.  In a way, though, since advanced mode isn't supposed to be balanced play, it's probably less important to have a very accurate difficulty rating for it.  (Advanced mode does help to make the very easiest villains enjoyable again, though, so to me, it actually feels more balanced, just for those ones.)

I hardly ever bother with advanced mode myself. It makes things harder, but it also adds more effects for me to forget every turn. The extra fiddliness isn't balanced by the extra fun for me.

And I'm not keen on advanced villains who just gain some DR. Just makes the game more of a slog, and can make heroes who do pingy damage feel useless. May as well throw that Hypersonic Assault in the trash then...

That's fair.  You'd make exceptions for easy-peasy villains, though, no?

Yeah, I'm with you, Silverleaf. Advanced mode, to me, is just meh. I get it for folks who are playing for a challenge, but I'm playing to be entertained (and usually to spend time with friends) or to test out specific mechanics (as when I'm playing the app). Advanced doesn't do much for me in those situations.

Although Advanced Blade is pretty entertaining… :sunglasses:

Advanced Blade is actually the one I'm thinking of most.  I find he makes a very fun introductory game for newbies.

I'm not fussed about Advanced Mode either - we just want a good fun game without it being overly difficult (and some of the villains are hard enough as it is ;)), plus as Silverleaf says, it's just extra stuff to have to remember on top of whatever else is going on ;). We've done Advanced Gloomy at the London meets a few times, though ;).

Yeah, Gloomy and Blade I usually do on advanced. I think Blade's front side advanced effect is really good.

For my group, I keep track of basically everything (hp, passives, etc), so that means a no to advanced mode usually. Weirdly advanced is better when I solo play, as I pretty clearly have most stuff planned, but that depends a lot on how many times I’ve fought the villain. Advanced Mode is all I play on the app though. If the programming takes care of triggers, I’m all about it.

For some reason, I thought that most of the forums veterans were playing on advanced all the time. I felt cheap playing basic villains, but your comments put things in perspective...!

I personnally prefer basic villains too. It is more enjoyable for me and my friends too. And it's not like I haven't played enough to know the heroes, SotM is by a large margin my most played game. Nice to see I'm not alone...!

Perfect, that's pretty much what I wanted. Thank you,

Our group has yet to venture onto the advanced mode with Villains, as most people have said, the extra book keeping puts us off.

This is precisely the topic I was seeking. Now all we need are the Oblivaeon heroes, environments, and scions added, and then made available in a downloadable PDF.

Isn’t something like this actually in the OblivAeon set?

It’s with the collector’s case and it has most of this.  It does not have quick bios.
