If you could nominate a theme song for Sentinels of the Multiverse, what would it be? I would choose Dreamline by Rush.
If you could nominate a theme song for Sentinels of the Multiverse, what would it be? I would choose Dreamline by Rush.
I nominate the theme song that we made.
I love the music from the video game! It's super-catchy. Sometimes I start up the game just to listen to it...
This is definitely the case internally. You even occasionally hear us humming it around the office.
I figured "Menahmenah" would be the office theme.
It's close. "Menah menah nah nah nah, menah menah nah nah NAH NANANA NAH NAH"
The main theme from Guardians of the Galaxy

So heroic, I could cry.
Hey, would it be possbile to havea version of the theme song from the video game with Lyrics? I love me some good old silver/bronze age superhero songs with lyrics.
The Pacific Rim theme ALWAYS gets stuck in my head whenever I play sentinels.
Recently, my "Away Team" (not Team Fancy) and I have been playing the Kill Bill soundtrack as our battle music.
I think each hero needs their own theme song. I nominate "Sole Survivor" by Asia for Haka. Yes it is a bit of an old song, but then Haka is no spring chicken...
Our group (basically me and my friend David, and sometimes some other people joining in) likes JRPG soundtracks. I particularly like You Will Know Our Names and Mechanical Rhythm from Xenoblade Chronicles.
Oh, we're doing hero themes?! I'm in!
Chrono Ranger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQWAcgefsQQ
Didn't follow the link so as to not disturb the other people that are in the room with me, but if that isn't the theme from "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly," I'm going to be very disappointed.
I can't necessarily remember all of them off the top of my head, but here are some that I remember:
Unity: Unity, by Shinedown
Absolute Zero: Absolute Zero by Stone Sour
Fanatic: anything by Killswitch Engage; particularly Holy Diver or Light in a Darkened World
Tachyon: FLASH! (aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh)
ExPat: Scream Aim Fire, by Bullet for my Valentine
Argent: Sgt. Pepper ("What would you do if I sang out of tune; would you stand up and walk out on me? Well lend me your ear and I'll play you a song, and I'll try not to sing out of key. Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends...")
NightMist: Ghostbusters theme
Omni-X: Time Warp, from Rocky Horror
Naturalist: This Animal I Have Become, by Three Days Grace
Mainstay: THIS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ajhzlq42f0
Dr. Medico: I Am the Doctor, from the Doctor Who series 5-7 OST
Writhe: U Can't Touch This
That's not Sergeant Pepper, that's "With a Little Help from my Friends", from the album Sergeant Pepper('s Lonely Heart's Club Band), and it's "What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me? Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song, and I'll try not to sing out of key".
Sorry, I like the Beatles ;).
Original lyric: What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you throw a tomato at me?
True story.
Didn't we have this topic already? (Not complaining, I just can't find it to back up my suspicions)
Yeah, I think we did.
Really? I never paid attention to the name I guess; the beginning of the song mentions Sgt Pepper, so I just kind of figured.
The song in question, incidentally, is called "With a Little Help From My Friends." Its most famous cover is probably by the recently late Joe Cocker, and I think was used as the theme for the 1980's sitcom The Wonder Years, starring Fred Savage (who is probably better known to most of the forumites here as the sick kid from the Princess Bride.)
"Battle Without Honor or Humanity" is simply the best song for whatever epic activity your doing…!
Such a nice soundtrack for this game, Bastion… Love it!
What about this one for Visionary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WlzLcJonDA
For Paul VII, I would use the instrumental theme from Captain America: the First Avenger. (It bugs me a bit that Paul VII's helmet is a WWI army helmet and not a WWII one.)
For Fanatic, I really like Salva Nos from the Noir soundtrack.
That works, but I think that we should go for the Ur example of Ominous Latin Chanting: O Fortuna.
(As a third choice, Two Steps from Hell's Archangel seems thematically appropriate as well.)
I see Tempest enjoying classical music, yes.
And eating rotten eggs and needing someone to turn his pages for him while he's in his aquarium?
Both great selections. Makes me want to play Smite the Transgressor and throw down some Martyr damage.
Verdi over Mozart, Mozart is much more Redeemer Fanatic, all flying about setting up attacks, less I'm in your face Smiting you.
Yeah, I agree. I personally prefer the Mozart, but the Verdi's better for regular Fanatic, definitely.
I was thinking PW, she's my favorite now, outside the Arena, mostly I really love the evolution of the Character seen in the base powers.
At first she doesn't really care about allies, she's jumping in the middle of the badguys and smiting all of them.
Then she returns, wiser and more cautious. Strategically planning the smiting.
Lastly we have her aiding her team, leading from the middle of the fray, back in the badguys face, but this time thinking like a leader.
She is Epic.
Also the power and it's awesome synergy with Undaunted and damage boosts is fantastic.
Oh yeah, you're refering the fish man in Hellboy, right? You might have read my subconscious…!
I know this may be a bit overplayed because it is Homestuck, but for our dear Omnitron-X, may I suggest some Variations for his techno-time travel shenanigans?
There is always a better option than O Fortuna. Most. Overused. Song. Ever. Thanks for that Simon Cowell, I cringe every time I watch Excalibur now (well, that's not the only reason why I cringe, time hasn't been altogether kind)
Two pieces that I think would work well as a theme for Legacy - and, in either case, maybe more for Paul VII than Paul VIII - are either Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" or the theme from Alan Silvestri's score for "Captain America: the First Avenger" (which latter is the part played on the DVD menu, just so you know what I'm thinking of). They're pretty similar in style.
For Expat, Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" would be pretty fitting.
Setback could use "Danger Zone" from "Top Gun."
Parse strikes me as a woman who would appreciate the intricacies of Bach's "Goldberg Variations."
Oh, if we're going with Homestuck music, Omnitron-X needs Time on My Side!
Absolute Zero: “Saved By Zero” - The Fixx
Tachyon: “One Thing Leads to Another” - The Fixx
Ra: “The Sign of Fire” - The Fixx
Expatriette: “Girls With Guns” - Tommy Shaw
Plague Rat: “Ben” - Michael Jackson
Absolute Zero - Winter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZCfydWF48c
The Argent Adept - Toccata and Fugue in D Minor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0nRPDfpbkY
Chrono Ranger - Wanderer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OAcIMiXvAI
Fanatic - To the Last Drop of My Blood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRT1kfJ2o5g
Legacy - Superman Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9vrfEoc8_g
Omnitron X - X, The Legend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAIyRem-p-I
Ra - Mystery of the Milennium Ring: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ-ElZDWoaE
Ambuscade - Into the Trap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpj1DYK4fCs
Apostate - A Night on Bald Mountain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5pnoSgIuVo
Citizen Dawn - Magneto: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgU1HzqtX-E
La Capitan - Up is Down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhpiQ4aZ75k
The Ennead - Anger of the Gods: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qnvt4vgxWgI
Grand Warlord Voss - Ruinous Commander: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td9V43f03Tw
Iron Legacy - Anakin's Dark Deeds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awgAzxysyu0
Omnitron - X vs Zero: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3qYAvmiKRs
Vengeful Five - Duel of the Fates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzVBqBosf5w
For Citizen Dawn, I believe Children of the Sun by Billy Thorpe would be quite fitting.
Baron Blade: “Behind Blue Eyes.”
We've thought about this, too, except we called it "entrance music" ala boxing/mma and generally assumed you'd only get a little blip (generally, but not always, the beginning) at the beginning of a turn. Whether it's the whole song or just a snippet would influence the decisions. But some agreed upon ones, in our circle:
Absolute Zero- "Ice Ice Baby" (natch)
Legacy- "America: F*** Yeah" (presumably with big band and dubstep arrangements for Grandpa and Baby Legacy, respectively)
Bunker- "Iron Man"
Wraith- "Creeping Jenny" (The Pack A.D.- not well known but worth listening to)
Tempest- "Thunderstruck" (THUNDAH... awwahhh - wah awah wahhhh- THUNDAH)
Ra- "Clint Eastwood" (maybe more logical for Chronoranger, but we like our arrangement)
Fanatic- "Holy Diver" (the Dio original)
Omnitron X: "Mr. Roboto"
Unity: "U.N.I.T.Y." ("Queen Latifah, give me strength!" - Gene Belcher)
Expatriette: "Bang Bang" (My Baby Shot Me Down) (Obviously also considered "Bad Reputation" for several reasons)
Mr. Fixer: "Bring the Ruckus" ("En Garde! I'll let you try my Wu Tang style!")
Nightmist: "Black Magic Woman"
Chrono-Ranger: "Cowboy" (Jon Bon Jovi, natch. He's from the nineteenth century, he doesn't get how cheesy it is)
Setback: "Loser" ("In the time of chimpanzees/I was a monkey")
The Naturalist: "The Bad Touch" ("Alligators are not mammals," he severely informs the other heroes, who still persist in singing about how both he and them are nothing but)
The Sentinels: "Everything Is Awesome"
The Scholar: "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" (because he's The Dude, natch)
Argent Adept: "I Hear Colors" (The Black Angels)
As for villains, we don't have many for them... except the Apostate would HAVE to be something involving Glenn Danzig.
I could see the Idealist loving this song and the rest of the group at first just begrudgingly indulge her and then end up loving the song themselves. Then when the Idealist grows up, she hates that song, but the rest of the team still sing it to annoy her and out of a sense of nostalgia.
For Kismet, definitely Roll the Bones by Rush.
For Miss Information, Head Games by Foreigner.
Resurrecting this thread because I found a few fitting songs.
Tachyon - Caffeine.
Idealist - Revolting Children
Sky Scraper - My I'm Large
Kaargra Warfang - The Final Countdown (or Mortal Kombat)
Citizen Dawn - I Burn
The Naturalist - The Stampede
A RWBY fan. I repect you. I am glad you brought it back, i enjoy reading this list.
Side note as much as i love the Sentinels vedio game song, I do grow weary of it after so long. I want a version 2.
I'll admit that I rarely listen to the in-game music. I usually have it muted and listen to Pandora instead. Although when facing the Ennead, I'll ususually play Playing with the Big Boys Now because it's thematically appropriate.
I think For Profit's theme would be Moneytalks by AC/DC.
Come on, come on, love me for the money.
I’m a big fan of Angel With a Shotgun for expat.
I'm surprised no one else has suggested Surfin Bird for the Matriach.
There's a Legacy theme song in the Shattered Timelines soundtrack =)
I do love the game soundtrack for the environments. Especially Time Cataclysm and Silver Gulch. The yee haw makes me smile every time.
My personal faves from the video game are Time Cataclysm and Tomb of Anubis, in that order. The Grasshopper (age 10) likes La Capitan
From the video game I like the main menu theme.
Well, I like all the music I've heard but the main menu theme is just about perfect.
I tend to think more of the environments/villains having soundtracks than the heroes - each hero turn wouldn't last long enough!
For Gloomweaver, I'd suggest The Autumn Project - This We Take With Us (album). It all has a fairly dark and crawling tone, but Song 4 is a 14 minute soundtrack to a zombie apocalypse
For Wagner Mars base, I'd use 65daysofstatic - Wild Light (though that might well be replaced by the No Man's Sky soundtrack they're doing)
For Silver Gulch I'd use either Bear McCreary's Defiance video game score (particularly Ninety-Niners), or maybe Souvenir's Young America
What song is this?
The music that plays when you're in the main menu in Sentinels digital.
How about some love for the Vengeance Villains?
Biomancer - Someone Like You by Bang Tango
Bugbear - Feed my Frankenstein by Alice Cooper
Fright Train - Nighttrain by Guns N Roses
Ermine - Foxy Lady by Jimmy Hendrix
Greazer - Hair by The Cowsills
Friction - Speed by Billy Idol
And here are a few more hero themes. Yes, Prestige Worldwide already mentioned Loser for Setback, but I thought of it all on my own. Promise.
K.N.Y.F.E. - Roll With It by Steve Winwood (I can hear her singing it along with Wrecking Uppercut)
Setback - Loser by Beck (Just read these lyrics)
Ra - Burnin' For You by Blue Oyster Cult
And a few regular villains.
La Capitan - Wheel in the Sky by Journey
Deadline - Blackened by Metallica
Spite - Hand of Doom by Black Sabbath
Apostate - Seventh Son by Johnny Rivers
Greazer has to be Rock This Town by the Stray Cats.
For the Argent Adept. This song by Crystal Lewis always makes me think of him. It's called Over Me.
When there's music all around
No conductor in the stand
When the singing is like sobbing
With no method to the sound
There's a voice that reminds me not to fret
It's the one that rings out above the rest
There's a song, sets me free
Like a rhythm over me
There's a chain, chain of voices
Looking for a harmony
There's a sound like a trumpet
Blowing out across the sea
There's a beat from the center of the wind
With the heat from the keeper of the flame
There's a breath moving sweetly
Like a rhythm over me
And it is over me
When I feel I cannot move
It always carries me
It is over me
Like a rhythm over me
When I'm riding with the angels
With my feet like the hind
When I"m running with the angels
With my wings like the eagle
There's a voice that reminds me not to fret
It's the one that rings out above the rest
There's a song, sets me free
Like a rhythm over me
I'd think Setback's theme would be something more optimistic. Sure, he's clumsy and messes up a lot, but he's still pretty happy-go-lucky.
Maybe something purely musical like Scheming Weasel Faster or Benny Hill. :D
Setback would definitely not pick for himself Loser from Beck. He would try to pick something heroic like Superman's or Robotech's theme and end up picking Benny Hill.
New theme song for Spite by Jean-Marc https://soundcloud.com/jean-of-marc/spites-victrolly-theme
Xenoblade=instant win.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm stuck between a couple songs for Tachyon.
First one's a clasic:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj5qK7bqw-4
This one is a bit comedic, and I think it would fit well with her speedy lifestyle:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kmxK6rf79g
The next one is a bit dramatic, showing the plight of someone who can move faster than lightning stuck in a world that just...Seems so Slow(and it's an ode to one of my favorite heroes ever).:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMe1qlyuMXQ
What do you guys think?
(Edit: added another song and changed wording so I don't sound like I can't count. :P )
I had completely forgotten about Jim's Big Ego.
Bringing back this thread (again!) because I was reminded of the perfect song for Setback's theme: Eddie the Jinx.
Here's one for the Dreamer, too: Iolanthe's Nightmare Song.
How about Turtle Shoes for Guise?
Sorry, the link got screwed up by your rich text formatter. I edited in the fix, but I know those don’t always show up for everyone so here’s a working link.
I also suggest XYZ by Hiromi Uehara for Tachyon.
