Hi, I would like help building a villain for my far-future, inter-planetary RPG set in the Sentinel Comics universe.

Detlef Gun’ter, aka Gauntlet, is the most insidiuos organized crime bosses of the 30th Century whose network stretches to most of the higly populated worlds in the Confederation of Planets. This is in part due to many smaller crime bosses deciding it’d be best to join the seemingly immortal Detlef; a belief which has only grown after the last attempt on his life only resulted in him gaining intimidating robotic hands.

I envision Gauntlet as a prime candidate for Master of Behind-the-scenes and so I’m trying to build him as Mastermind Domain villain. The Mastermind representing him being an expert manipulator and schemer and flavouring the Domain archetype as his agents being everywhere and him often not needing to act directly to meddle with the heroes. I am struggling to think which abilities from this combo to choose, which mostly is due to my inability to think of how to flavour said abilities appropriately.

Do you have any ideas

Let's see... Mastermind and Domain.

I haven't run a Domain villain myself, but I have a few ideas.

First, from Domain. If Gauntlet is primarily acting through his agents, then presumably they surround him.

- The World Moves to Defend Me seems like an excellent starting point. There's always an agent ready to step in or take the hit so that he can escape. Maybe something like "Witness Their Loyalty"?

- The Earth Trembles Around You also works quite well. Use the narrative to craft a situation where the players can only strike at him or at his agents, and you can have this reflect them unleashing a pincer attack and then run off to reload. Perhaps "They Know Too Much" or "Dispose Of Them"?

-- Alternately, if he has more plans and contingencies than minions, then This Place Is Mine To Command is a good option. Fill up the environment with his contingencies or powerful allies, and he basically has a plan for everything. Good flavor with Mastermind.

Second, from Mastermind. Should Gauntlet be confronted, then I would say:

- Villainous Monologue's are amazing in comics, and why should he be an exception? He obviously knows how to 'negotiate', and the heroes are in his place of power. "Welcome To My Humble Abode", or such.

-- Alternately, Contingencies Upon Contingencies gives him a hefty set of bonuses to work with, representing that when the heroes are confronting him, they're still falling right into his traps. "I've Been Expecting You, Heroes"

- Exploit Weakness is also neat, and if he's got a good knack or set of gadgets to work with, it's a good way to represent an emergency defensive measure. "You Aren't The First To Approach Me" would work for a name.

Thank you for the helpful response.

I thought "ascend from my realm" would fit using the flavour that Gauntlet's influencing the scene through proxies while not physically being present so why should he take damage from a lava flow or a crooked cop?
