so was messing around trying to build a modular and I noticed the Green Switch power is a boost action and the Yellow Quick switch needs you to destroy a bonus you created if you take a mode prohibited from taking Boost actions there is a good chance you might get trapped in that mode
you could hold the boost created when you Switched the first time but if a villain removes your bonuses…
am I missing something? Did I miss the first thread about this? I know Modular is not great but the actions and chunkiness works better for my heroic mad scientist than other archetypes

You partially correct.
Even if your mode does not allow you to take the Boost action, you can still use Switch Mode to enter a different mode. You simply will not get a Boost action while doing so. If a villain removes all of the bonuses you made, then you will be unable to use Quick Switch due there being nothing available for it to eat.

ahh… ok I figured that since it was a boost action you could not take the action

It is an Ability Action. You just so happen to take the Boost action during it. As such, you take the Ability Action, and simply skip the Boost portion of it.
