Noting that I've run the starter kit twice, I've gotten 2 issues played, a third... and tried a few things.
One of which is I've used trackers of different lengths than the standard. Mind, I only have a B&W printer, and am a herald in the SCA, so I made hatchings for the color steps. Diagonal lines is green, Yellow is a dot pattern, and red is vertical lines. I also have trackers for each player's current status. I use glass gaming beads on them. I also colored in the hatched splats with highlighters, then laminated and cut them out. The frosted white beads carry a hint of the color they sit upon, making them particularly appropriate.
I also have a set of plexi interlocking tiles from litko aerospace - they freaking rock, but don't get both the yellow and the light green transparent flourescent- ithey're too close to each other unless on white paper. I'm tempted to order some new ones- rather than individual, 1 space, 2 space, 3 space, 4 space, and 5 space hallway tiles instead. They're great for FFG Star Wars and L5R 5e, too.
The next is Glass Beads on Cards for Minions and Lieutenants.,.. I'm using the smaller beads from Chessex, bought via my FLGS. While all the cards go d4 to d12, the top line sets the standard for that card. (Remember, several villain powers promote minions. So basically, the card has:
Bonuses, Name, standard die size type (hollow= minion, filled = lt.)
brief description
d12___________________________________
d10___________________________________
d8____________________________________
d6____________________________________
d4____________________________________
The lines run all the way across the index card. Works great!!
I've also encouraged my players to define new complication NPCs on the fly. Which resulted last session in Camera Guy John. And his prompt forgetting why he was present thanks to another player using intangibility to mess with his head. Oh, she also erased the camera... That's also why the cards for the adventure have blanks.
And, while I didn't think of it until after the trackers were put together, but adding a space for "i've reacted" on the character trackers is an idea... I've done it with a second bead, in a different color, for the PC tracker. On the start arrow.
The last item is a "Who has gone" tracker boxes in seating order. Environment, turn track, and others for NPCs;
When I get my font done, I'll bind it into a Libre Office template, and u/l the sheet.
