Play by Forum: New Sentinels

Hey guys! 

I am loving the Sentinels RPG and have already written a campaign to play. My problem, I have no one around me that would like to play. Would anyone be interested in playing the Sentinels RPG here on the forum? We can use the Freedom Five and Unity that are already built. 

The Campaign is a reboot of the sentinels' universe. The writers decide to do an " Ultimate" Universe version of the universe and its characters. This is in order to have it be new reader friendly. 

As a player, you would have creative control of your character. Along with playing your character in the game, you can make up the stories of a comic that can have an effect on the game. They can pull on pre-existing Lore or create some of their own!  For example, the writer(player) of Legacy plays Legacy in the rpg but also once a week "writes" an issue of "Legacy" where more character-driven stuff and world building can happen. 

I will be the editor of this new sentinel comics. I will GM the game and approve the changes and story of the different books to make sure we keep things in the same continuity. 

I would allow characters that are not premaid if we agree on stuff for them together to make them not too strong. 

Is this interesting to anyone? Anyone want to be writers of the "Ultimate" Sentinel Comics ??

What character would you like to write?!

I would be interested, but put me on "lowest priority" since I've been out of the forums for a week, am in another RP already (2 maybe), and don't want to take a spot someone else wants. You might ask speedyolrac, as I might have kicked him out of the PbF.

I'd be interrested, I've never done PBF before but it sounds like fun.

Well, I think i'll wait till we get the book for my characters, Put me down for Wraith or Unity.

I’d be interested, depending on how often we’d be expected to be on/post. Might not always be able to post every day, but would certainly do my best not to fall too far behind.

If you’re OK with that and want me aboard, I’d be interested in playing (in order of preference): 1) Unity, 2) Absolute Zero, 3) Tachyon.

I have an idea for an original hero too, but probably best to wait for core rulebook for that.

We can either play the campaign from the core or a new one I am writing. Which would you rather do? 

Hmm... I think a new campaign would be pretty neat to go through, especially if we're 'writing' the new continuity for these characters. :)

I'm down for either. I like the starter kit campaign that's around, but playing a new campaign gives us more room to move for our individual stuff

So I am going treally create an out of character thread and a chapter 1 thread. OOC will contain any out of character questions. You can pm me your first arcs for your characters. Chapter 1 will begin the game

Quick question: since this is an 'Ultimate Sentinels' rebooted story, do we player characters know eachother yet?

You can decide on how much your characters know, or know about each other. 

I'm guessing this story is the one where the Freedom Five is formed, so I'd say we wouldn't know each other just yet. Everyone would most likely know the story of the Legacy line. The current carrier of the mantle has been in active 'duty' for a few years now, protecting the United States when his assistance is needed, but he normaly handles most super-heroics needs in Megalopolis.

Hey, I'd like to join if it's not too late, although I've never done a pbf before, so if there's anything special I need to know, please tell me. Assuming I can, I'll take Absolute Zero.

Sounds good. Read what has been going on. Post when your ready for your character to come in. 

Already have, but I need to be sure of one thing first. If this is a new continuity, does that mean potentially new backstories as well? Based on what's happened so far, I get the feeling that Absolute Zero is already involved in whatever this facility is for, and possibly was from the very beginning. Please tell me if I'm mistaken.

He is not actually, it does look that way. 

It is a new continuity, so you are in control of your character, including if you would like a new backstory. Just needs to be approved by me.

I think he needs one, since his original is so inexorably tied to the Freedom Five, which technically hasn't formed yet. I assumed his new backstory was somehow tied to the facility and whatever it does, since he's already there and all. If that's not the case, can I at least know why he's already there and what he's doing? I assume you had a plan for that, and you can pm me if you don't want the others to know.

I really can't decide.

I think I can be Bunker, I think I need to play this to really wrap my mind around this.

Hmm Ulimate universe. I think this will be a ReRe Willaims/Shiri version or bunker. An Inventor more than a Millitary person. I will fill it out as the day goes by.

Edit: I was thinking Imfamous Iron Man But that is just way to much at once.

Hmm. Could it be we may have to edit some posts so it feels more like this is a 'first meeting' for each hero? We've been failing to do that, really.

Yeah, I'm very confused by the Wraith suddenly recognizing Az in her last post after not knowing who he was in her previous one.

I kinda got the impression that Legacy and the Wraith (and maybe Unity) recgonized each other from their individual heroic antics, but this should at least be Az's first time meeting anyone.

I am good with wraith, unity and legacy knowing one another. Legacy and wraith from being “worlds finest”. Unity is learning from the 2 heroes. 

Bunker and az have never met the others. 

Wraith will need to adjust :)

That totally works for me. Legacy having worked with Wraith in the past and maybe semi-knowing Unity.

Oh yeah, totally. In fact I'd find it difficult for anyone based in the US to NOT recognize Legacy.

I assumed from the beginning that the man in the blue suit was Az, it described him too perfectly. That's what I meant when I earlier mentioned Az already being there, and my intro for him was meant to be about the same camera that Wraith was just looking at him through, and so far the gm hasn't denied it.

All Intuition is now Intelligence. Out of Suit Intelligence is d10. Riot cannon is now Omni-Matrix, 2 bracelets that can transform into useful small tools. Functions similar just not as powerful Primarily used to help craft stuff / Shiri hand cannons in Black Panther (or Ironman hand thing in civil war.) Power suit will still be like 10ft tall but can change form more sleekly.

A 5'1" Angolan 20 something girl. A Mechanical Genius, was able to build small gadgets form the trash in her native country. Got scholarships to go to South Africa then to Cambridge. Speaks Umbudo, Portuguese and English. Built her Power suit in college with scraps. Was inspired by watching too many movies/cartoons.

Is currently in the USA Visiting relative when heard the alarm. Traveled to the site to investigate. She is excited to do heroic things in the USA, she mostly did stuff in Britan and South Africa.

Did my Overcome check second-to-last round take out all three gunships, or did it only count for one?

Edit: Also, how do we want to play out the twist from Bunker that effects Legacy? Do we want her to actually cause a bit of damage, or maybe just have her cause me a hinder from her min-dice from her Grenade Launcer roll?

I strongly believe that every good meet up should have a misunderstanding.

My twist was because I rolled doubles.

There were no gunships to shoot at. Legacy had taken them down. Legacy will take the damage of the helicopters, from Bunker barreling into him. Legacy may choose how he responds. 

I must have missed that post. (Oh I see it now, he overcame it.) I thought it was a hinder roll. Oh well, what is done it done.

I'm sorry. I'm OK. Just, yeah, been quite busy and distracted by real life concerns. I think I was also hoping the soldiers would go before me (as it looked like they still had to go in the round), so I'd have a clearer idea what's going on. But I can probably post later tonight (hopefully), but likewise, if GM wants to skip Unity for now and move along, that's fine with me. Again, I'm sorry, but will try to post soon.

Hey guys! I am really sorry i fell behind. I have been really sick since this last weekend. We are back on. I am sorry. 

No worries. I was out of it too for a bit, but I hope you're feeling better.

For that last turn, when the troll fired on Nigel... did you roll defense for my bot? I'm fine if you did to speed things along, but Unity's bots work just like any other minion, so he should've either been eliminated or gone down a die size, so I think he should be a d8 Attack minion now (or eliminated completely, if he failed his die roll)?

(Just in case you hadn't rolled defense for him, I just did ... d10:8, so yeah, he would've successfully defended with that roll, but I beleive he still goes down a die size to a d8? Unless I misunderstood minion rules).

For clarification, I'm pretty certain Legacy's identity is known to the public. He doesn't wear a mask or anything for goodness sake, so I don't know how he'd hide it. Unless some serious 'glasses and hair-curl' shenanigans are happening, and I don't think Adam and Christopher consider that a propper disguise...

Edit: Also, Legacy's last name is Parsons. A few people are forgetting the 's' at the end. :)

OK. I rolled an 8, so he successfully defended attack, but still suffers some damage, and will go down a die size to a d8. In my next post (likely not till tomorrow evening), I will reflect that, but feel free to edit yours if you'd like.

Ok, so to keep things moving, I think that I will move the story to the next round if there i three days of no posting. I will be posting today moving on to the next scene. 

So issue one is over. I am trying to figure out how to move onto what is next. Do people each want to take a turn posting about what your heroes are up to for the next week? 

Maybe how you come together? Or further investigate and such. Basically, tell me what you would like to do before Issue 2 begins and we will work together to make it work!

Aw dang, if I knew that was gonna happen, I wouldn't've waited till next round to make my next post. I didn't want to just leave the Wraith hanging like that.

I've had some difficulty finding adequate time to post in the last few days, my appologies.

I'd say, if we realy want to end the issue here, give the characters a chance to get together and collect their thoughts before starting a new issue.

I am waiting for Legacy(Character) to make my next move, If not I will post stuff tomorrow based on the info I have. This will act as a Montage scene. 

If anyone else Wants to interact with Amina, She is helpful and wants to make up for shooting at Legacy.

Legacy101, I would make the villain take a turn in between the heroes if we are taking to long. My favorite part of this game is the initiative. 

On the other hand, this is a very "comics" cliff-hangar to end on…But I say if we do end the episode there we definately need to hand wave calming Legacy down and figuring out who's taking the unconcious dude the the hospital and how we keep in contact & what not

I'm not sure if this thing is still going on or not (looks like Legacy102 hasn't been on here in a couple of weeks), but I think I'll have to step away if it is (at least for the time being). Things have been quite hectic at work and an at-home project is also taking up some considerable time. I was also finding the PBF thing a bit hard to follow at times. So, if someone wants to claim Unity, and Legacy102 is OK with it, you have my blessing. If things free up a bit more later on the road and you still have a free spot, I'm open to the idea of coming back, but I don't want to be dragging things down if I can't post as much.

But have fun! I can't wait to play this RPG IRL. :)
