Hey Everyone!

I am sure everyone is dying to know more about the Sentinel Comics RPG system and how it plays. So we here at Boards Alive decided to make yoru life easier. When we went to PAX West this year, we met up with Christopher and he GM'd a short session with us in the new system.

So if you've been dying to hear how the system plays, check out our episode with Christopher here - https://t.co/tL03bgELGM

We'd love to hear what you thought about our playthrough and if you think we sucked at playing some of the iconic heroes from the Sentinel Comics universe.

Okay. I've been kind of skeptical of the RPG so far, but this is what I needed.

I think this'll be fun. :D

Also, Christopher is a great GM, judging by that "Maybe you're the villain" remark. XD

Curse you Boardsalive! You beat me to posting your own podcast by a mere 12 hours!

Looks like I know what I'll be listening to tonight.

The guy playing Unity is totally my kindred spirit. Stealing the enemy's ideas, trash-talking the minions, teasing their teammates, making literal finger pistols, lobbing metal spitballs, getting crushes on NPCs...

A) You guys don't suck playing

B) Even if you did, I'd still love it.

C) Thanks a MILLION for letting me hear about it by posting.

It's not clear to me was the entire issue 1 completed in that recording or just part of it?

Christopher says at the end that it was one "scene" of the issue.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to that last night / this morning, and with a few hours still ahead of me at work, I think I'm going to enjoy listening to that again  :slightly_smiling_face:

Although, I will say that this isn’t helping me patiently await December…

It was definitely entertaining even beyond the sneak peek. "That's not a spider. THIS is a spider." "Bunker did it!" (Bunker in general having no dignity.) The workers grumbling. "He's so dreeeamy..."

Was also kind of entertained by Christopher's voice for Argent. It's that sort of guy who's kinda hilariously pompous but one, he's still a really nice guy, and two, he's awesome enough at what he does that he's sort of earned it.

That was brilliant, really brought some character to Bunker (who I could never really get a foothold on personality wise). Also love, love, LOVE Unity's player making her a fangirl for Argent Adept.

Also where can I find a pic of RPG Argent Adept?

That bit made me laugh in part because Argent strikes me as the type who would have absolutely no idea what to do with having a fangirl. Particularly if it's Unity.

And yeah, "snarky professional straight man" worked quite well in contrast to Unity being the "wise guy".

And sadly I don't think there are any pics of RPG Argent other than waiting until December for the Starter Kit to ship.

Has anyone here on the forums developed time travel?  If so, maybe we go together to the future?  I don't want to go very far, just December.

"These little hearts made of scraps of metal float up into the air behind Unity."

"Argent Adept can't see that cause he's on the radio."

"Oh I know."

LMAO!

Adorbs.

Also, why the cliffhanger? Why would you leave my man Anthony to get beat up by secret spider-bots? Even if they are only d6! Not cool, guys. Also, I at least want to hear Scene 2 for this.

Will Unity save her idol and score an autograph?

Will Bunker manage to avoid further mishaps and collateral damage to the surrounding area and his dignity?

Will Argent end up with a new groupie sidekick?

Will Akash survive the spiderbots taking up gardening?

Will the poor Megalopolis workers ever actually get any work done?

Will there be more cheesy trash-talking and snark?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Yeah, I was really enjoying their Unity and Bunker.

Even if they did have a 1 minute conversation while a Spiderbot obligingly charged really slowly at Unity (pet peeves go!).

@Phantaskippy: Talking is a Free Action in comics, tho. :3

@Princess Cool: I bet the unions require copious amounts of "paid break time due to monster attack" in employee contracts.

Forgot to say I also like the idea that there's just this sort of universal hero radio frequency that heroes can tap into... somehow... (where would Argent even fit a cell phone in his usual outfits?) to page each other.

That's one of Adam's best designs yet.  The beard does a great job of aging his look, and it's a great take on the "bard" trope.  The rose bandaged to his arm is a nice little reminder of the dark path he avoided (although not completely, apparently).

I was about to say I'd like to see a Swaptober version of him, and I still do, but what I really want to see is the Xtreme version of him.  (Or rather, an Xtreme version--I'm not sure the canonical one survived his encounter with Ruin.)

Yeah, now that I'm done having a shameless fluttery fangirl moment, I like how Argent's definitely gone full-on D&D-ish bard with this look. Also how his hair is actually now red instead of its usual more orangey color, and the whole "redhead wearing green" trope has finally been embraced. The rose on his arm, his pipes tucked in his belt... is that the Drum on his back?

Also, I love that his left bracer has a base clef on it.  Does his right have a treble clef?

JE

Based on his other outfits and his nemesis icon, I think the bass clef is Argent's personal symbol (kind of like how the segno was the Crimson Conductor's symbol), so it's probably the same for both bracers.

Edit: On the other hand, the other bracer does show a curved line at the top that could possibly be the top of a treble clef with where it's placed, so, hmm.

Oooooo, a rose!

Is that a connection to Akash or a reminder of his days as Dark Conductor? Enquiring minds want to know!

And four rings? Why not one on each finger, is it important or just a style choice?

Considering he's ace and the ring finger of your left hand is where you'd typically wear a wedding ring, I'm putting my guess on "style choice".

I think they're probably rings of power, too.

Just saying I still think the reason for skipping that particular finger is that particular interpretation. (Though considering how magic is often related to symbolism in general, it could well be an actual magic reason to skip that finger.)

Wow!
This thread really exploded!

Thanks everybody for the kind words about the episode. It was a pretty surreal experience to have Christopher GM a game in one of our favourite universes.

Really happy you all liked our back and forth. It's pretty normal in our world for me (Aaron/Bunker) to be the straight man for Quinten (Unity) to make jokes and be silly. I mean, it also helps that Christopher is the king of puns.

And now that he has revealed that art, you get why we were going bonkers for his art in the end credits.

Sorry I bleeped the special guest hero that appears too ;)

Give Quinten (now there's an awesome name to have) my kudos from a fellow silly-leaning roleplayer.

While I'm all in on the "so sexy!" assessment of RPG Argent, I also agree with the "He looks like he's ready to beat some people up" assessment.

Actually, I showed the pic to my mom's friend (who is not a geek but is entertained when I show her my geeky stuff) and she was like "You think he's cute? Gosh I don't know, his eyes are glowing green; he seems kinda scary to me!"

Now I wonder if it was Arataki (who we know is in the Starter Kit) or someone else entirely.

Someone on Reddit said RPG Argent "kinda looks like Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars" and I'm like *head tilt* now that you mention it, yeah, he does kinda look like a ginger Ewan McGregor there. Which is rather fitting, obvs.
