I've heard and noticed many groups being formed for the upcoming RPG, but I don't know where to find them. If I can't find something, I assume other people can't either and so I decided to make this thread. For people trying to find an RPG to play in or GMs trying to find people to join their RPs, this thread is now here. I know there are multiple ways to assemble these, so please give what system you'll be using. Without further adieu, Avenge- Sentinels Assemble!

Side note: Feel free to use this to find physical RPG groups too.

Once the core book comes out I'm planning on trying to run a campaign at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio

While I will likely join Chaosmancer in person at my alma mater (and now- workplace), I’d be more than happy to run a few intro scenarios online for anyone who’s wanting to get their feet wet in the rpg arena.
If there are any people interested, just let me know!

@PlatinumWarlock: I still like your ideas, and have been thinking about getting my feet re-wet in RPing. (Online that is, as I live in Middle of Nowhere, MA.)

Ugh, you are the 4th person to tell me to go. That broke my limit. I am in. Also GTG will be showing off the RPG there and I want in on that.

Time to buy tickets and figure out how am long i am staying. It is a 1.5 hour drive that I am not sure I wanna do every day.

I'm going to try & drum up interest for the RPG by running the Starter Kit for any comers at the Malted Meeple in Hudson Ohio, though they're moving soon so i'm not sure how well that plan will line up with the starter kit's release. As for after the core releases I guess i'll wait & see how much interest we get.

The Malted Meeple is moving to a place in downtown Hudson off the 303. They're moving because it'll be a bigger space and stuff, not far from where they are now.

They were great hosts, honestly.  While I'm not local to Akron/Hudson, I do have two friends who live in the area, and it's not exactly a particularly far drive from Dayton (about 3 hours or so).

Excited to hear that some people are on the east side of PA. Hope to meet some of you at PAX as I will also be looking for a group to play with once the RPG drops.

Hey all!

It seems most of you live in the states, but I hope people in Europe will want to play too (mostly because of the time differences). I'm looking for a hero team to join for eventual online play. I live in Sweden and most of my friends don't have time to play, so I would love to find a casual group to meet for roll20 for example.

Well, I'm in the UK here. I might be up for joining an online game, depending on the system (who says we have to play the Sentinels RPG, after all? I mean, it's not even out yet ;)) and stuff. And the time.

I'll note that play-by-post is not necessarily reliant on everyone being in the same time zone, though that may make combat a right pain in the ass if you can't be online at the same time for die rolls and such.

You don't need to be online at the same time in a forum-based game at all. People can take it in turns to post in order of their turn, or everyone can just post what they want to do an the GM sorts it out. Combat can be tricky to deal with, yes, and it will take a while. I've tried to come up with a way to get around some of the issues by the method of switching to PMs once everyone (well, I only have two players) has rolled Initiative, then the players can give me their planned actions there and I'll write one post for that whole round describing what happens (playing the monsters and rolling for the players using whatever powers/skills they told me they wanted to use). Since I use MapTools for the map, I update that as I write the post, moving the combatants around and updating their hp and status effect icons and so on, and then when that post is done I screenshot the map (after hiding anything the players wouldn't be able to see - MapTool lets you do that for stuff like PoV) and upload it to the "Map" section in the game in RPOL so the players can see how things now look.

This way each round is only a single post in the main thread and it doesn't become full of player queries about what they can do and dice rolls all over the place and stuff. It does mean that the players don't get to describe their own actions or make their own rolls since I'm doing it all, but I get them to give me as much dialogue and narrative description as they want and then work that into the post. So their content is there, it's just written out by me. It's obviously not perfect and it's a system I'm tweaking a bit here and there as we go but we very rarely have combat (at least, so far) so it doesn't come up very often ;).

That sounds reasonable, and leaves open the ability to ask for corrections if something happens that would prevent a player from doing what they were planning.

Yeah, I'll wait to see what people want to do if stuff changes during the round. For example, if one player is last in the Initiative order, chances are that whatever they wanted to attack at the start of the round may not be there at the end. But I can tell them "By the time it's your go, this guy will have moved up, these guys will have attacked you, and <fellow PC> will have tried to nuke that pair of bad guys over there", because even though I won't have actually done any rolling or writing at that point, I know what the enemies will have tried to do and can also say what the other player has told me of their plans. I stick to Initiative order so if the players happen to be adjacent in that order it makes things easier because I can just make my one-round post go from the end of their previous turns to the start of whichever of them is going first, rather than posting the start-to-finish of each round. Since I only have two players, this has a reasonable chance of happening ;). But we've had about two or three combats in the two or three years I've been running this on RPOL so I don't need to worry about it that often ;).

Thinking also about getting my feet wet in RPGing, but online, as I live in Capital City of the Middle-of-nowhere state, known for GenCon, race cars, and corn.

I think so. I've literally seen people measuring their height against corn stalks.

EDIT: And the weather. Can't forget that Indiana weather.

Because I really like this system, I can teach/run the starter kit to people of the forums. If possible I would like to help clear up any questions about the system as best as I can.

I ran a few games at Pax Unplugged and been following the RPG for a while now. I even am running an SC RPG game with a couple of friends for  6 months. We recently had a few rules updates, (the starter kits cleared up some of the questions) but the system itself is still the same.

Going to probably do it on discord.

I am on the east coast.  A friend wanted me to run a game for a while now, and he is only free Sunday.

At this point, I think I Can do a Sunday game. December the 3rd seems like a good day. I would like to start Sunday evening (6ish est) but that can change.
I plan on running this on discord, my username is S
peedyolrac#5945.  Let me know on discord so we can take it out of the forums

Wish I could join in, but I have another Dischord game on Saturdays and the family is going to start being really busy with stuff on the weekends, so I'd be seriously pushing my luck by trying to join another game.

But, if the Starter Kit does answer a bunch of questions then that will help a lot, and I'm planning on running it for friends in the area to help get a feel for it.

I gotta see what my Sundays will be like. The game I've been playing in on that day has been a bit shakey, but with my luck the upcoming weeks they'll want to double-down on making sure the meetings happen.

6:00 sounds fine for me, actually. I may be multitasking while on both that and TftA though.

Unless it take some less than an hour to do.

Speedy,

I'm looking to run a demo at a local con in February. About how many issues would fit in a four hour timeslot? I read 90 minutes/issue in the kit, which means 2 2/3 issues (so 3 if maybe I trim a scene or two). Would you reccomend doing 801, 802, and one of the 3 "middle" issues or summing up the 3 middle issues and jumping to 803?

Four hours, That is hard to say. Depends on how much table chatter there is, how many players you have and how quick people pick up the system. Two of my demos of book 1 rook 2 hours, one was 1.5+, and the last one was 3 hours. I Would just do Justice Comic 801 and 802. Scene two of 802 can be crazy and if your team is fast you can just go wild with it.

Going to the middle of a book is not satisfying.  Don't do that. You can add a pad the game if your team is going super quick.

Are you planning on doing all 6 book with said group after that day?

I was planning on running the whole thing for my regular gaming group, assuming they bought in after playing through the first issue. For the con, I was thinking of doing 2 issues in a round, three if it was feasible. As for doing the whole thing, I'm usually good for two GMing sessions in a day before my brain locks up, but it would be pretty cool to do.

I was hoping to do 2 books a session too. I might be able to sneak a few sessions into our one-shot fridays at the local college, but getting a game in is hard. 6 games would be impossible, heck three might even be impossible, but I might stand a chance if I'm lucky.

I can run the whole first issue in around 2 hours, including teaching the rules of the game to new players. The subsequent issues get a bit more complex (and you can always add interesting other stuff and delve more into things!), but 2-3 hours per book is very safe. If you can play 4-6hr sessions, doing the whole thing in 3 sessions would be quite reasonable if your group were into it.
