I’m curious what determines which three topics are visible on the homepage, as my various Game Logs and such in the SOTM The Video Game topic never seem to appear in the parent category of “Games”. Is it only things which are in the parent board itself which can ever achieve this peak level of visibility to casual viewers?

I’m pretty sure it’s just most recent.
Your latest game log is literally right there at the moment, at least for me.

Your picture does also show the “Game Log Versus OblivAeon”; it’s just third instead of first.
